We were thoroughly excited for dinner at Bob's and had high hopes because we'd been there twice before. It was my boyfriend's birthday, so us and another couple made reservations for dinner. When I had made reservations two weeks before, I couldn't get any reservations past 5:15, which I found it odd because when we got there, the entire restaurant was nearly empty. At any rate.. Everything started well. We placed our drink orders which included wine. As soon as the wine came out, we placed our order for apps and dinner. We started off with calamari and their house bacon. Both came out within reasonable time and both were very delicious. I would've preferred to have my calamari with fresh marinara instead of cocktail sauce because I love a chunky marina, but thats just my preference.
Now let's talk about when it all went downhill.... It took about an hour before our food even came out. Although the restaurant started to fill up, remember that we were one of the very first in the restaurant. In addition to that, the waiter checked in on us only one once to get us all another glass of wine and that was it. There was no notification as to what was taking so long with our food or for him to be present for us to ask. I had the surf and turf with a sirloin and lobster. My boyfriend got the Prime "cote de boef" bone in ribeye and our friends were going to share the prime porterhouse. We all ordered our steaks medium for the temperature. When the steaks came out...my boyfriend's was medium well, nearly well done. Mine was rare. And our friend's steak came out medium rare. I also ordered scallops and they were overly seasoned (super salty) and burnt at the top. Again, we were waiting for our waiter to tell him this and in the meantime, only ate the side of cream corn while we waited.
Our waiter finally comes over and my boyfriend explains to him how all our steaks our not cooked correctly and in the middle of his explanation, the waiter interrupts him by saying, "So what is it that I can do?" I know, initially, this doesn't sound bad, but his tone and demeanor set everything off. We no longer wanted to eat or be there any longer because of his poor attitude and frankly just didn't want to give them our money if this is how we were going to be treated. He said it as if to take no ownership in the poor service or food quality. And after we told him that since we waited for so long that we no longer wanted to wait for our food because we just wanted to go. He says (and I've NEVER heard of this in the food industry before) "well let me go see what steaks are already cooked up in the back or what the kitchen has". Ummmm, excuse me? This is a fine dining restaurant and you guys have pre-cooked steaks in the back? Or do you mean you're gonna go get someone else's steak so someone else can wait? I don't get it. But I think he figured out he was just saying all the wrong things and FINALLY went to get his manager.
So the manager approaches the table. We tell him what happened and he offers us an apology and dessert, lol, I guess which was a nice gesture. But we were just trying to leave and he said he would see what he could do. He comes back and says that he would give us 1/2 off the bill. Which we told him was not good enough because WE DIDN'T EAT OUR FOOD. The manager HIMSELF, helped other waiters take the food off the table and should've recognized that we didn't eat. So I told him that we were not paying for our steaks cause we didn't eat them. He did eventually remove our dinners and the sides that we didn't eat off our checks, but with the poor customer treatment and the time we wasted at the restaurant, I didn't feel was enough. Our reservations were at 5:15 and we didn’t get out of there til after 7:20.
So yes, needless to say. Won't be back and I'll tell everyone about our poor experience at this "fine dining"...

Our recent group dinner at Bob's Steak & Chops in Nashville transcended a simple meal – it was a truly exceptional experience. What began as a convenient convention outing turned into a delightful discovery, even for someone like myself who isn't typically a steak aficionado.
Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to find a beautifully appointed private room awaiting our group, complete with its own dedicated server. This level of personalized attention immediately set the tone for a special evening. Our server, Sheldon, was an absolute standout. His genuine enthusiasm for Bob's, coupled with his thorough explanations of the menu and patient answers to our many questions, truly enhanced our dining experience.
The atmosphere was lively yet refined, punctuated by the clinking of glasses as a variety of cocktails made their rounds – I even caught mention of a mysterious and intriguing "Big Carrot" (distinct, I gathered, from the impressive signature carrot garnish accompanying each plate!). The diverse array of entrees showcased the restaurant's commitment to quality. While some indulged in succulent lobster tails and others savored perfectly cooked ribeyes and New York strips, I opted for the petite filet with bleu cheese crumbles and a generous serving of expertly prepared brussel sprouts.
And let me tell you, that petite filet was nothing short of divine. It practically melted on my tongue, delivering a level of juicy tenderness that was truly remarkable. The brussel sprouts were equally impressive – plentiful and perfectly seasoned. We also enjoyed a fantastic selection of appetizers, including a crisp calamari, a classic shrimp cocktail, and another that escapes me at the moment – all were delicious and set the stage for our exceptional mains.
To conclude the meal, I couldn't resist the carrot cake, and it did not disappoint. The balance of warm spice and sweet icing was just right, a perfect ending to a perfect meal.
My only suggestion for Bob's, and it's a minor one, would be the addition of a curated entree salad selection, perhaps featuring both steak and non-steak options. I, for one, would have eagerly chosen a sophisticated steak salad had it been available.
Despite this single, small suggestion, my experience at Bob's Steak & Chops was unequivocally five-star worthy. If I were invited back, I wouldn't hesitate. And without a doubt, Bob's would be at the top of my list for client dinners when the company is picking up the tab. This is a Nashville gem that delivers on...
Read moreNot nearly the experience I was expecting! We are 3 couples that go to a different upscale restaurant once a month. Each month a different couple chooses where the group will go. I made a reservation about a month in advance (Sat Oct 6, 2021) for a party of 6. Our reservation was made for 5pm when the restaurant opened. The service was okay to begin with, although a bit slow. We are never in a rush, so that was not an issue. We ordered some appetizers and waited till they were delivered to order our entrees. Two of us decided on the special of the evening which was a salmon dish over risotto. As described, it sounded delicious. We both commented that we couldn't wait to taste the risotto because we expected it to be delicious. I ordered a baked potato with mine as well because I love steakhouse baked potatoes! Everyone's order arrives pretty much at the same time, except our fish. For the most part, everyone was okay with their meal except one steak order which was rather cold. He didn't want to complain, so he just at it. When our Salmon dishes finally arrived, we realized there was no risotto, but the salmon was served over small (what they said was roasted but was really just boiled potatoes). We both were not only disappointed, but thought what a very strange way to serve salmon....over potatoes!! We told the waiter and he said "oh, yeah, sorry....I was just advised on the way out of the kitchen that there is no risotto". Fine, but we are very sorry, we don't want this dish served over potatoes especially since I got a baked potato on the side. Well, the meal went downhill and crashed after that. Waiter was definitely pissed off and made no bones about showing it. I could go on about the sweet tea that wasn't and then came with an inch of sugar at the bottom of the glass, etc....etc. One salmon replacement meal came in about 5 minutes. My Porterhouse Steak replacement meal was not served until all the others in the group had their meals boxed and ready to go home. The checks were served with my meal! There was no apology, no manager to the table....NOTHING! The server finally said, as he was collecting the bills, the restaurant is running with 6 ppl! Well, we counted more servers than that running around the dining room. Not sure what he meant. Bottom line, we were expecting a first class, upscale experience and were treated worse than if we went to Burger King! Bob's better wake up, there are tons of competitive restaurants opening in Nashville and Cool Springs for people to go to where they are...
