My husband and I recently spent a fabulous night at The Joseph, which hosted a private event.
Upon our arrival, the valet was quick, efficient, and, as would prove throughout our stay for all of the staff, friendly and helpful. We were continuously impressed with the valet team: how they keep the small space organized, the fast turnaround. Luke, Michael, and Will A. all deserve highest praise. Not only our arrival and departure were seamless, but our daughter arrived late and they carefully coordinated to help her other parent quickly depart.
As we checked in, the front desk upgraded our room to a deluxe suite, which was impeccably clean, beautifully appointed, and enticingly comfortable.
I spent an inordinate amount of time in the shower and bath, finding the products provided so lovely that I needn't unpack my own. Our suite also had thick and warm terry cloth robes, which I delightedly used while readying for the party. I was initially concerned. The light in the bathroom is a bit too dim for makeup application, but there is a swinging swivel LED makeup mirror- it was perfect.
We listened to a portion of the music selection on vinyl as I got ready- my husband was completely stoked about the album "Frampton Comes Alive" in our room. I sipped espresso from the in-room Nespresso machine. It truly was as close to being home as possible, while being away.
We took advantage room service- it is very quick and ordered from the room's iPad. In fact, almost anything you need or want to know is found there. The food is fantastic and beautiful. The room service staff, in each case, were professional, friendly, and just absolutely lovely people. I honestly can't say enough about the staff.
My husband used the gym twice in our stay. He does a lot of travel and is constantly disappointed in hotel gyms. He routinely stays at Marriott properties, where the gym or fitness center is typically only a treadmill cardio equipment. He was exceedingly pleased that he didn't have to go off-property for weights.
We attended our event in the Edmonson Ballroom. The staff made the event a complete success through their quiet and enduring professionalism and always open smiles. The bartender of the event, Majid, was stellar. He had my husband's drink prepared before he'd made it to the bar, every time and kept the party going without a line ever forming. It's hard to stand out among a staff like this, but he truly did.
This is absolutely the best place to stay in Nashville and now beats my previous favorite of all time, St. Julien Hotel in Boulder, Colorado.
I highly recommend anyone stay- whether stopping in Nashville or wanting a few nights "staycation." We will...
Read moreI stayed for 7 days in town for a conference at the MCC. Day 1 (first time in Nashville) I experienced severe allergies. The valet staff proactively offered water & an antihistamine when they saw how much I was being affected. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and started to call me by my first name by week's out. I had business cards sent to the hotel which were securely received and promptly they called me at the room immediately, offering to bring them up to my room. For my package booking through American Express, they included breakfast each morning at the Yolan restaurant. Often I could go all day until dinner before needing a 2nd meal it was so satisfying. Day 3 Delphine, the restaurant director graciously offered to cover my coffee & pastries when she learned it was the "big day" for me to present at the conference. Even when checking out there was a mix up with the valet system assuming I was parking at the hotel all 7 days there instead of just the 3 first nights and the remainder I parked at MCC to be close to the conference. Davionla & the entire team calmly cross referenced their records and calmly resolved my balance before I checked out. Even when the team was faced with unusual operational challenges they remained patient, gracious, and kind taking as long as needed to resolve the issue in question correctly.
The beds are extremely comfortable! Pair that with blackout shades and it was some of the best sleep I've had in months.
Working-wise, I was able to use the lobby or level 8 conference area to get some heads-down work done with a team member. Wifi was fast and stable, so I was able to easily transfer any documents from my company LAN over VPN to my local machine if I didn't have the files handy before starting my stay.
The lobby, on-street lounge bar, and restaurant became a hub for many conference attendees making it easy to network and focus on building relationships without the need to constantly get a ride-share across town. For the American Express package using the Business Platinum card it was nice to have breakfast included up to $60 per day and a general $300 credit to use toward any of the paid amenities. The 6 course dinner at Yolan was a masterful experience of hospitality, presentation, and the highest quality food I've experienced in awhile. They lower the lights for dinner for a truly magical ambiance. It was common to bump into folks staying for a honeymoon weekend, anniversary, or high end business discussions.
In short, I highly recommend! Everything from the rooms, amenities, and hotel staff this was a truly topnotch experience...
Read moreI like to keep my posts brief and unbiased.
Great: The sausage and mushroom omelet was the best omelet I have ever had (and I am in mid-50's). Superb and obviously created by a chef and not a cook working the morning shift. The design of the rooms and materials. Overall, it is what you would expect or maybe slightly higher quality. The service by the front office manager, Laura Moran, was spot on. I had a concern about a broken piece of furniture and she immediately responded and sent someone up.
Good: I called down the first night to see when breakfast would be served and they said 6am. I set my alarm and went down at 6:15 to find that it is only the coffee bar that opens at 6:00 am. This was disappointing but not the end of the world. I sat in the area which was very comfortable and read. The location. I ,admittingly, am not used to staying near here. I usually stay at the Hermitage Hotel right in downtown, across from the beautiful public library. This location may be great and it is just my perception. The gym looks well stocked and has a very nice view. A few peletons, free weights, pulley machine and cardio. Just what you would expect in a nice hotel.
Bad: The prices were a bit steep. I often stay at Ritz or St Regis properties so I am used to paying a premium. I, also, know that Nashville is one of the most expensive cities in the US for hotels (look it up, I didn't believe it either). Example for high price is the $6+ for a single espresso. SB charges me $2.75 each morning for a double espresso. The cuban sandwich is bad. Just really bad. The handy man. Noted earlier, Laura sent a handyman to fix a table in my room (her service was fantastic). This is his idea of fixing it (picture attached).
Bonus: I often get ideas from hotels on what I would like in my own house. The tub they use at the Hermitage is the same one in my master bath. The telephone at the St Regis in Toronto is the same one at my house. The tile in the bathroom at The Joseph has a place in my home. (picture attached - squint your eyes for full effect). Also, take a look around the hotel. The artwork is quite interesting.
In closing, would I stay here again? Especially, with the great selection of hotels in Nashville. Yes. Absolutely. Next time, I will give myself a little time to see the area, not get room service and spend a bit more time appreciating the artwork and researching the artists. Plus, if you are not familiar with Nashville, one of my favorite cinemas is here...
