Good Citizen Coffee Co — Restaurant in Nashville-Davidson

Okay so I didn’t go here on my last two layovers because of complaining reviews saying it was bad coffee and overpriced. Big mistake! I came here at the recommendation of a restaurant around the corner who’s barista was out sick. It’s the coziest, sweetest little spot. The baristas were friendly and service was super quick. But it was so nice in here that I decided to stay and sip my lush Americano with steamed cream. I’m in here with just one other girl and a little trio chatting away in the corner. There’s couches and comfy seating as well as tables of varying heights for business or homework. It’s warm and peaceful and the coffee is very nice. Pricy? I mean… not more than any lame Starbucks in this economy. My large Americano (usually 4 shots) was 7 bucks. I don’t love how expensive things have gotten, but that’s not the coffee shops fault. I’m gonna come back next time it’s cold and I need a cozy nook to duck into...

I picked up a bag of “Hang Tough” beans at my local Publix because I was out and thought these would work in a pinch and at the same time I thought it’d be nice to support somewhere local. Well, it was quite the mistake to be honest and I would probably never buy Good Citizen coffee again, or at least not from the Grocery store. I have had coffee from probably near a 1000 different roasters across the US and these have to be some of the worst. I have tried them using various methods (chemex, v60, Clever, and French press). Every method I’ve tried, has disappointed. The reason being, is because the coffee is so bitter and taste like it was burnt during the roasting process. Wish I noticed the 2 star rating before going but we wanted drinks after we did the country music hall of fame. First thing I saw was two sour faces, no greeting that made you feel welcome and the man who was at the counter first asked where the straws were and the person at the counter pointed behind him without saying anything and had attitude about it.
