Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) I recently had the pleasure of visiting Hattie B's Hot Chicken in Nashville's vibrant Midtown neighborhood, and I must say, it was an experience that left me craving for more. This renowned eatery, known for its fiery and flavorful chicken, truly lives up to its reputation as a must-visit destination for hot chicken enthusiasts. From the moment I stepped inside, the lively and inviting atmosphere set the stage for a memorable dining experience. The rustic yet modern decor, coupled with the energetic buzz of conversations and the aroma of fried chicken, instantly made me feel at home. Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the hot chicken. Hattie B's offers a range of heat levels, starting from mild to the mouth-scorching "Shut the Cluck Up!" Each chicken piece is perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, making every bite a delight. The seasoning is a harmonious blend of spices, delivering a tantalizing balance of flavors that kept me coming back for more. The menu at Hattie B's goes beyond just chicken, offering a variety of delicious sides and desserts. The pimento mac and cheese was a heavenly combination of creamy cheese, tender pasta, and a subtle hint of heat. The southern-style greens were expertly seasoned and provided a refreshing balance to the richness of the chicken. And let's not forget the banana pudding—a classic Southern treat that was pure comfort in every spoonful. The staff at Hattie B's were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Despite the constant flow of customers, they managed to maintain a high level of efficiency and attentiveness. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned hot chicken connoisseur, they were more than willing to help you navigate the menu and make recommendations based on your heat tolerance. One aspect that stood out to me was the commitment to quality ingredients. Hattie B's sources their chicken from local farms, ensuring the freshest and most ethically raised poultry. This dedication to supporting local producers not only adds to the overall taste but also resonates with their commitment to community and sustainability. One small downside worth mentioning is the occasional wait time. Hattie B's popularity has resulted in long queues during peak hours, but rest assured, the mouthwatering flavors that await you at the end of the line are more than worth it. Consider planning your visit during off-peak hours or use their online ordering system to minimize wait times. In conclusion, Hattie B's Hot Chicken in Nashville's Midtown neighborhood is an absolute gem. The explosive flavors, inviting ambiance, and friendly staff create an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're a spice lover or simply craving some outstanding Southern comfort food, Hattie B's is the place to be. Just be prepared to embrace the heat and savor every bite.

We heard about Hattie B's from friends who live in the areas or have visited, and they all said Hattie B's is AMAZING. I've had Popeyes, KFC, and Jollibee, and so my expectations were sort of grounded but cautiously optimistic. When I say that Hattie B's lives up to the hype and more, I MEAN it. I told my friend that if Hattie B's ever came to the tristate, it would be game over for every fried chicken spot. This was the best fried chicken I've ever eaten. I got half chicken and medium heat, and it packed just enough spice without being unenjoyable, the crisp on the chicken was insane while the chicken was still crazy juicy! My wife got the 3 tenders, and let's just say these are not your run of the mill tenders... These tenders are absolute units, borderline whole chicken breasts! Additionally, the meals came with sides, which I thought were okay, nice to haves, but obviously, the real attraction here is the chicken, which they did NOT disappoint. The staff is all extremely friendly. They ensure you're doing okay as they walk by, and they're always going around cleaning the tables and making sure the restaurant runs efficiently and is clean. Last thing I'll say is the self-serve, infinite refills is incredible, and I think absolutely absurd that they do this (but obviously very thankful they do do this). A lot of the locals mix lemonade and sweet tea to make half and half, and it's REALLY FREAKING DELICIOUS. I tried Sweet Tea + Lemonade and felt it was a bit too sweet, so I made one with Unsweet Tea + Lemonade, and it was bang on. They brew their tea fresh, hot water, tea leaves, etc. The whole nine yards. This place is an absolute blessing and a curse... It's SO freaking good, but because it's so freaking good, you want it all the time... and we all know we shouldn't have it all the time. It's still fried chicken, y'all. It's insanely delicious, but it's definitely not healthy by any means. If you're in the mood for some fried chicken, this place is the only answer. No one else comes even close in my opinion, whether fast food or at a local restaurant, this is the best fried chicken (I also found it absurd that they can churn out SO much fried chicken at such high quality and at such an affordable price!) I'm definitely a lifelong fan now, and I'll visit once a year and get my Hattie B's fried chicken fix.

The line all down the block is good advertising. We managed to get there when it was only to the sidewalk, and not down the side of the building, yet, and it moved pretty well. Having the menu available via QR code made it easy to decide while in line, so the ordering process was smooth and fast once we were actually in. There was plenty of seating outside, with a little inside that was mostly just by the line. The food was absolutely fabulous. All three of us got dark meat quarter meals and we all got different side dishes. The southern greens were rich with meat and tender savory and perfect. I loved the bacon cheddar grits as they were delicious as well and the grits were perfectly smooth and buttery. The BBQ beans were super flavorful. The pimento mac and cheese and cole slaw were exactly as you'd expect. The surprise was the really lovely black eyed pea salad, which I'd never seen before. It was refreshing, plenty of veg and a vinaigrette dressing that went really well with the mildly carb-laden peas. I highly recommend that if you want something lighter than the usual sides. The chicken was perfect. Moist, tender, super crispy skin. The boys got the hot, while I got the mild, and they were happy with the spice. I found the mild to be really good, enough spice to be interesting without interfering with my enjoyment of the taste. I also bought the banana pudding because banana pudding, and theirs was fabulous with BIG chunks of real fresh banana in a starch based homemade vanilla pudding (nothing of the chemical elements of an instant pudding) and it was all studded with a generous amount of Nilla Wafers. Really worth getting and the three of us finished it up happily. A great meal at a good price. They had good beers for the husband, and plenty of fountain drinks.

When they say hot, they actually mean it. Most places I've been to who serve a spicy version of a dish, it's not actually spicy. Hattie B's is not messing around. I ordered the medium and it was good enough for me. I got my spice fix and it didn't take over or distract me from actually tasting the chicken flavor. I was pretty hungry going in and so I thought I needed to order a large. I ended up ordering a half bird for myself. I don't want anyone calling me barnacle boy (spongebob reference)...but let's just say I have a whole other meal for another day. Which is actually awesome that I get to re-live a great meal. It was soo good! Every bite was a good bite. I also ordered two of the small white and dark meat. Looking back at it, I think I could've been filled with that. But like I said, I don't regret getting to eat it tomorrow again. I was impressed with the sides too. I loved their mac and cheese. If you're from NC and you like that tangy-vinegar taste you should try the black-eyed pea salad. I also go the southern greens which complemented the chicken when eaten together. Eat it alone and you might not like it. I also ordered the fries and it was seasoned perfectly. This is what I did for a good experience: Arrived 30 minutes early, found parking. 2nd person in line. Wrote my whole order on my smart phone and presented it to the guy taking my order. They take card btw, which is always a relief. I ordered to go and I got it all wrapped up within 10 minutes. I double checked to see if I was missing anything and they got it right. They were so efficient, you can tell they expect a crowd every day and they're used to it. Water is provided for people standing in line and the workers are pretty clever anytime you talk to them.

I'd been waiting to try this place for years and drove 7 hours to come try this place. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype 😕 my partner and I both got mild chicken sandwiches. I got the Mac n cheese as a side and my partner got the grits. Grits were as good as they come and definitely recommend. The Mac n cheese was also great. As it comes to the chicken sandwich, the chicken itself had a great crisp and spices to it, the Cole slaw had a nice crunch and flavor....but... it was, underwhelming? Perhaps I should have gone for a Spicier one! If you like hot spice go for something above a mild. If you cant handle spice the mild is fine. But alast, the downfall really came with the peach cobbler I'd ordered. It was inedible. I tried to take a few bites and couldn't bring my self to justify having paid the $4 for it. Outside of the fact that it had almost no dough flakes in it the way a cobbler should(it was basically just peaches in syrup), the syrup/sugar tasted like pure melted butter and stale. I threw the whole thing away almost untouched and was really sad about it. Sure I could have said something, but the line was long and I figured you win some you lose some. Anyways, if you're looking for a chicken sandwich and good sides, it's an easy spot, but nothing like I thought it'd be. Servers were extremely friendly however which goes a long way. And water is free, which is always appreciated!

Texan in Nashville. Highest rated restaurant close to my hotel. Line nearly dissuaded me however me being accustomed to waiting in long BBQ lines told me I was in for something special. I was greeted by Matthew in line who did the greatest thing which every restaurant should do when they gave long lines… asked me if I wanted a beer or an appetizer while I waited. Mind blown. Do better everyone! Met a newly migrated Aussie in line who was solo, like myself. We instantly agreed to sit with each other. His taste buds were a little… less mature than mine so he opted for mild. I went hot. But… I absolutely had to try at least SOME “Shut the Cluck Up.” They let me get a single tender of it. My food arrives… the hot was wonderful. The skin was crispy and just perfection. A little nose watering taking place. I’m saving my sides to rescue me from the STCU burn. I cut the tender into small bits and offer some to the Aussie. He indulges in a small bit and has a relatively small fit for a while… I definitely felt a good burn. And of course I’m doing this on the patio right in front of the crowd getting ready to go in and order… my facial reaction inspired fear. Was definitely hot but a great burn. Not the hottest I’ve ever had. Mac & Cheese w/ pimento and Collard Greens were on point. Great experience. Entire staff was so friendly and had so much energy. Absolutely loved it. Welcome to Nashville.
