While I really loved my first time here, my second time at the listening room was disappointing. Admittedly we arrived about 40 min late to the show. We asked if it was still worth us paying to go in, if they would play much longer and the person at the door assured us we didn’t miss much, that they typically would play 1.5-2 hours. Tickets are $15 at the door vs $10 online (though online they add processing fees so it’s actually $14.50). We entered and sat down and went to order food but the waitress told us 1) the kitchen was closed except for salads and fries and 2) we had to each spend at least $15 per person. That was really frustrating as the person at the door didn’t explain that and we didn’t realize we had to pay another $15 per person. Additionally two of us don’t drink and we were hoping for dinner, so the option was forcibly order a $16 very simple salad or pay for an expensive can of water. The performance was really amazing and we really enjoyed it but it ended about 35 min after we sat down. Thus with the heavy price of paying $120+ for about 40 min was a bit of a damper. I just ask that the listening room be sure and advertise kitchen closing and the $15 minimum at the door. (Though now going back I see it’s on their website, but we didn’t look at their website...
Read moreWe had a good lunch here. I was really excited about coming, since I'm more into singer-songwriter music, and it sounded like the food was decent. The food was okay. The brussel sprouts were great. The turkey, bacon, apple was okay. For an award winning sandwich, I was underwhelmed. It's a good combination, but I didn't feel like it was amazing or special. I think part of it is that its a cold cut sandwich, and I was expecting warm, melty cheese and more sauce. It was just ok. Good, but not great. Same with my husband's burger.
Which yes, here more for music than the food, but that's why I only give it four stars - the acoustics in the dining area are awful. It's super echoey, so we had trouble understanding any of the words. Very muddied sound. We did choose to sit in the more cozy booth section, further away from the musician, but still, I was disappointed. It was lunch, which is not the main, ticketed show, so the evening acoustics may be better. But for a place called the listening room, I expected better acoustics, and more sound panels.
There is plenty of seating, mostly tables for 4, but you could probably put tables together for larger groups. It's spacious enough that you could maneuver a wheelchair or high chair without too...
Read moreWhen on a post heart break trip to Nashville (after realizing Beau had a stronger connection with indecision than he ever did with me), I highly recommend immersing yourself in the one thing more reliable than modern dating: live acoustic music.
My friends and I booked a reservation at The Listening Room Cafe, and from the moment we walked in, we knew we’d found a place where the drinks are strong, the talent is stronger, and the heartbreak? Slightly less noticeable.
We were treated to the musical magic of Adam Warner, Josh Gallagher, and a very handsome ginger dreamboat named Jeb Gipson. The vocals? Impeccable. The vibes? Cozy but electric. And the way Jeb sang like he was personally serenading my emotionally damaged soul? Chef’s kiss.
Our server Dallas was an absolute gem, charming, attentive, and the kind of person who makes sure your drink is always full and your heart feels seen (even if it’s in recovery).
We came for the music, stayed for the cocktails, and left wondering if Jeb takes song requests… or phone numbers.
If you’re looking for a night that feeds your ears, fills your belly, and flirts with your feelings, The Listening Room Cafe is the...
