As I write this review - I am not sure I will be able to capture how special the Bode truly is to Nashville. Walking onto the hotel grounds with its black matte finish on the siding and whimsical decor put us in a relaxing space. Check-in was a breeze, with a text letting us know everything was ready (and it was early - without an extra charge). The two-bedroom apartment was excellent, with sunshine streaming into a very eclectic living room, picking up the hardwood floors. From the bright yellow couch with fuzzy pillows to the farmhouse table and crisp linens on the bed, this was a dynamite stay! Though we did not cook, there was a full stove and refrigerator with Cuisinart cookware. The coffee for the morning was this tasty chocolate cherry mix - yum! We each had a great night's sleep with soft yet somehow firm pillows. We visited the coffee shop only once to pick up some water - they were well stocked with a lovely variety of grocery items (excellent touch). We had a chance to explore the grounds and lovely areas to sit and chat - on picnic tables, around a fire pit, and even on a porch swing. One night we decided after being out we wanted a drink and some snacks. The bar provided an amazing spot to sit and unwind. The bartenders, Heather and Dylan, were so lovely and kind. Dylan got us our food, and Heather made drinks. They were excellent. The bar was so busy, and some patrons were not on their best behavior, treating Heather and Dylan poorly. They both handle the guests with courtesy, whereas this reviewer would have tossed them out on their entitled rears! We must remember a few things as travelers - we are guests in the city - whether it be Nashville, Charleston, Los Angeles, New York, or Salt Lake City. Travelers, please treat those in hospitality and the service industry with the respect they deserve. Nashville was a cool city, but the other tourists made it a difficult place to like. However, having a place like the Bode to return to and relax made it better! You will do yourself a favor to spend a few days in bohemian luxury if you stay at the Bode. Great little boutique hotel - with...
Read moreI've never posted a negative review before because there is already enough negativity in the world, but I would never stay here again so hopefully this review helps someone not make the same mistake we did.
The place looks nice and modern online but it's actually just an old apartment building painted black with the bare minimum done to sell it as a 'hotel'.
They took the existing apartments and cut each one into two separate hotel rooms by adding a single interior door between them with a lock on both sides. This means there is absolutely no privacy from your neighbor. You can hear them whispering so if your neighbors like to stay up late, you'll be staying up with them. If they like to do 'other things' then you bet you'll be a part of it too.
We stayed in one of the smaller rooms which was the original apartment's front door. It is a single room with a bathroom. There is a large window by the door that is only covered by cheap slat blinds. Even fully closed you can see people walking by your room while in your bed... Also the lights outside are on 24/7 so it never is dark in the room. Since the original apartment's thermostat was part of the other unit, all we had was a noisy and ineffective wall AC unit. When they pressure washed the walkway in front of our door, water would come through the many gaps between the door and the frame.
They provide no services like daily cleaning. Normally I wouldn't care about this but there is only a single, tiny trash can in the entire unit so if you stay there longer than a single night you will have to carry your garbage from your room to the parking lot daily.
The only reasonable improvement they could make is getting blackout curtains on each window. Every other problem stems from it being an old apartment complex with a fresh coat of paint. It would require significant structural renovations for me to ever consider it worth the price to stay here.
The only positive I can give this place is that Nashville is a nice city and it's...
Read moreLots of nice things, but the three stars are for the worst features, BY FAR: YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING. You can hear the people upstairs walking, daytime night time, turning on their faucet, flushing toilet, breathing, talking, literally everything. Street facing views (master bedroom) you can hear the street noise, cars wooshing by, tons of sirens and fire trucks. Nashlorette party woo-woo-girls and concert party bus go-ers screaming every two minutes all day, all night. Absolutely no judgement about woo-girls, to be expected in the area. Would be nice if my hotel room provided solace from the outside world. Insulated floors and windows would immediately fix this and would be a fine establishment. For the price of the room and only needing it to rest our heads, we would have been better off just crashing in any of the nearby hotels for the night higher off the street . For folks needing a longer stay with amenities and space, it's a better deal. The communal spaces make it more appealing for long term stay.
A+ for fresh aesthetic, apartment type living amenities, cute outdoor space for live music Friday and Saturday. The rooms are crisp and clean, and if the bathtubs were more modern, it would be on par with luxury boutique hotel from the aesthetic point of view only. They are the bathtubs and showers your grandmother would have in her home 20.years ago. It is jarring to see against the backdrop of the rest of the hotel. Two bedroom apartment is huge plenty of space to spread out. All amenities are in the apartment for cooking, cleaning.
Ease of self check via phone in and key codes being texted was nice after long travel. The staff who texted and confirmed check in information were very helpful.
On site Parking is $20 a night when using the discount code. This takes a little back and forth once you park, go to room for discounted QR CODE code, then return for QR code in the parking lot. If the lot is full, you park in an adjoining lot that is...
