Hands down, the worst Thai food we’d ever had. I honestly feel bad writing this and considered not writing one but the management/kitchen staffs response is why I am. To start off positively, it’s a beautiful place and solid wait staff. The wonton soup was meh, the egg drop soup was slightly better than okay (if you add spice to your liking) and fried pork dumplings were good - but absolutely nothing worth complaining about. We ordered Pad Thai and Red Curry - it’s hard to describe but for such colorful meals - it was somehow bland and nasty at the same time? The chicken was questionable at best…but we tried to power through because we were looking forward to Thai food and hungry but could only get through about 6 bites before we both couldn’t stomach it anymore. My husband suggested we box it up and offer it to someone who was hungry on the street - and I kid you not, I was not attempting to be rude - but I told him I’d be too embarrassed to hand this over to even a hungry person.
So we told our waiter, he quickly took the food away and offered us a replacement meal but to mess up the two most basic Thai meals you can get, we declined. Next is where it became unprofessional to me, when the meals were sent back - the management and kitchen staff came out to look at US while whispering? Are you kidding me? What they should have done is look at each other to figure out how to not send out disgusting food again or had management approach us to see how they could improve….instead they stare at us…
Very unprofessional. Anyways, you can try it out for yourself because maybe it’ll taste good to you but after going to scores of other Thai restaurants and their odd response, I’d say go...
Read moreWe decided to eat here sept 25th, food was delicious & quiet and peaceful inside the restaurant . We had a server named Andrew ( white guy ) who informed us he just started working there so we gave him grace . He brings out our food and forget to put my pepper steak on the grill so it could smoke but we gave him grace because he claimed he was new . We get done with our food and I pay with my card & pack up. We make it down the street ( right out the restaurant ) past dp dough and our server ran after us with hostility saying “was something wrong with our service because you didn’t tip, u spend $60, and your that broke you couldn’t tip” which I felt is completely unacceptable and unprofessional! I’m so scared to come back . We couldn’t tip because I’m not financially in a good situation to tip yet we still wanted to eat out and get a good taste because I’m pregnant . I love zhang bistro but I never expected to be harrased and...
Read moreStopped by on a Monday afternoon around 3 pm. We ordered Beef Fried Rice. BBQ Pork Ribs, Cucumber Salad, Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken wings. FYI I cook Asian cuisine myself and this place definitely makes it as one of the best in New Orleans. It is a quiet unassuming restaurant with a nice clean decor on the corner with a splendid view. We were seated and served promptly by polite staff. Bonus for fast refills (including unsweetened ice tea yay!) All the offerings were fresh (cucumbers very crisp / crunchy and so on,) had just about the right amount of seasoning, and unlike most other places not oversalted. One of my friends thought that "medium" heat was a little light so YMMV on this. Portions were decent size so I got filled without being overstuffed which I prefer in hot and humid climes. Not overly fancy (which I prefer) and a step up from other places I have frequented. If you are looking for a change of pace...
