Barbam NYC — Restaurant in New York

I think overall the drinks here were pretty good. I liked the Hadong Festival and the Cha Cha Cha the most. The hadong festival kind of tasted like matcha red bean. The Cha Cha Cha was very refreshing, like drinking a nice jasmine iced tea with a hint of citrus. I also got the Hulu punch which I thought was also good, but if you are not a huge fan of tequila like my partner, you can taste the slight bit of tequila undertone. The namyeon was interesting, it did kind of taste like the dish especially with the pear and cucumber. I think my least favourite was the Jang Trio- I think the flavour of this drink was excellent, it’s just that it was in the consistency of an ice cream and you have to eat it instead of drink it and I personally just don’t like eating alcohol. Worth coming here to try Korean...

Tl;dr - I LOVE Barbam

I really wanted to try this bar and so went with a friend one evening. It shares an entrance with the restaurant that it lives under. Once inside, you check in with the hostess who will guide you downstairs. The bar is quite small - maybe around 8 seats at the bar, and around 4 small tables that seat maybe 3-4 people each. Definitely not a party vibe. The staff are all very nice.

We wanted to have one, maybe two, drinks but ended up getting 3 each because we wanted to try all the drinks. They were all SO GOOD. For those who grew up eating Korean cuisine, you will love this place. The naengmyeon gave me flashbacks to when I was younger. Their glassware is also very pretty and well thoughtout.

I’ve visited this bar more than five times and usually had a great experience, but I was really disappointed during my most recent visit on Friday, May 30th at 7:15 PM. The front desk hostess kept asking if we wanted to leave—not once, but multiple times—even though we had only been there for less than an hour. It felt like she was trying to rush us out. I didn’t see her doing this to other guests, and she mentioned there was a time limit for seats, especially on weekends. However, there was no mention of this policy when I booked online or in the confirmation message. We spent $170 that night and did not expect to be treated this way.
