First, a compliment, then a complaint...
Food is pretty good although a bit expensive; i.e. $13.50 for 5 shrimp and some fries. It is always nice and hot, and the fried foods always seem like they're fresh outta the fryer.
My only real complaint: stop handing me ice cream cones that are dripping before I even grab them!!!
(Note: these are all drive thru experiences)
I'm not sure what the deal is there. At first, I was ordering the dipped cones and let it slide thinking maybe that just comes with the territory.
But no, I ordered 2 cones today, 1 cake cone and 1 waffle cone, neither of which were dipped, and both were dripping like crazy before they even handed them to me.
Every time this happens, the employees let out a laugh (sometimes nervously as if they're embarrassed almost because they know this is an ongoing problem) and say they'll get me extra napkins.
I don't know if that has to do with the temperature of which the ice cream is stored or the location of where the machine is placed causing them to melt due to having to walk through hot, fried air, but something is clearly not right there and it needs to be fixed because I don't enjoy this game of having to race to eat my cone as it's dripping all over me, my kids, and my vehicle. Regardless if my kids enjoy the game or not. That is not my kind of fun!
And yes, I do feel petty ridiculous leaving this long of a review/complaint about ice cream cones... but...
Read moreNostalgic stop. Haven't ad AC for atleast 20 years. Menu has definitely expanded, not necessarily for the better. Fish n chips were typical fast food fare. Frozen, overly battered pressed fish submerged and fried in oil. Greasy upon serving aside mediocre fries that were warm at best. 1/4 pound bacon cheeseburger, sans tomato, onion, and lettuce, was fresh and hot. Patty was juicy and bacon was crisp. Again, fries were just meh. Mushroom swiss burger was underwhelming. Patty was overcooked and dry. Cheese was barely melted and had a rubbery mouth feel. An excessive amount of mayonnaise and lettuce shreds on the burger made for a soggy bun. Tried the gyro. Should have known better. 4 slabs of gyro meat? served on top of a thick pita topped with tzatziki? sauce, one tomato slice, and a couple slices of onion. Wasn't even folded in half. Not a fan. Meat was dry and tasted "off". Arby's gyro tastes more authentic. That's saying a lot. The saving grace of this visit were the onion rings. Served hot and fresh alongside the original fry sauce for dipping. We ordered at the drive thru. Received our order with minimal wait. While we sat n ate in the parking lot, there was a constant flow of traffic in and out. Not sure if the popularity is due to locals...
Read moreGood heavenly daisies!! I miss having Arctic Circle in Eugene & now even more so! There were tons of cars in the drive thru & this crew was a well oiled machine, of productivity! No one had to wait long at all. We went inside to eat & watching the smiles, the camaraderie & the interaction, between the staff, made my heart burst with glee! They were all working so hard & so happily! The Lady that took our order was SO doggone nice. She even gave us history about the eatery & Arctic Circle. Our food was beyond delicious & I didn't get a fast food belly ache, like I normally do at other places either. We all got Burgers, Fries, Onion Rings & the Onion Rings were exactly the most awesome in texture & flavor, as they were when I was a young gal. Our mouth watering Burgers were making our taste buds dance & the fries were cooked to perfection. I got the famous Grape Lime Rickey & pow was my tongue twirling! I haven't eaten at Arctic Circle since ours in Eugene closed down. Perhaps that was 30 years ago? I dunno, but I am SO elated to find one still open & whenever I go to the coast again, I WILL be most definitely, including a meal here! I was so into my meal, I forgot to take photos. Just another reason to go...
