The Local Scoop — Restaurant in Newport

The Local Scoop was a welcomed addition to Newport, Oregon. My family enjoys stopping by this establishment during our visits. There's nothing like indulging in an ice cream treat when visiting the coast! The employees are very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is very comfortable.

They have indoor and outdoor seating available. The shop and restrooms are always clean and inviting. The restrooms are nicely decorated as if it were a home rather than a public bathroom. The display case and shelves are organized nicely as well.

There are several flavors of ice cream to choose from. It can be made into a milkshake, sundae, float, or cone. The ice cream always has a smooth and rich flavor. There are times when they are out of certain baked goods or ice cream flavors, but they are quick to suggest something else instead.

THE BEST ice cream I have ever had!! Seriously! Hands down!! The flavors are super rich in flavors and you can tell this is homemade ice cream! I love a good cherry ice cream, and not too many places have a decent one. I tried their Bordeaux Cherry...OMG this was soooooo good! I tried a coffee flavor and a hazelnut w/salted caramel(?) I think, both were amazing too! 2 scoops are HUGE!! The owner was super nice, and allowed me to do a half scoop of one flavor and another half scoop of a 2nd flavor, because I couldn't make up my mind on the amazing choices! Super nice staff, very nice to all the customers. They even have a cart that kids can stand on and it rolls across the front cases, so they can see the flavors too if they are too short to see the display. Can't wait to visit...

The name is well matched with what they serve. All ice cream sourced in Oregon: Umpqua, Tillamook, Cascade Glacier, and I forgot the 4th one!

Super friendly service regardless of how busy they are, which is very impressive to witness.

Casually spot and has outdoor sitting for your pets. They even offered to fill the water for my daughter's dog when we asked for an empty cup!

My favorite this summer is the Maui Maui sorbet! It's so light, yet full of flavors! Check them out whenever you visit or drive by.
