Two years ago we visited the Asbury Avenue location during a trip to the beach. While we were disappointed that the larger café was closed, we were pleased that there was a boardwalk location. The prices are not unexpectedly high ($5 for 2 minis) and the flavor selection for the full-size monkey bread looks very nice--Nutella, caramel pretzel, etc. Unfortunately, if the minis we had were any indication, the quality is not as high as at the old location. The monkey bread was not served warm, there was only a dollop of the icing (as opposed to icing in the center with the larger original monkey bread) and some of the bread was a little hard (which one doesn't expect from a bakery and at that price). It also took a little longer than we expected to be served our brewed iced tea (which was pretty good). I cannot speak for the other menu options, but we were disappointed and likely will not be...
Read moreI can’t honestly rate the food because we never got a chance to try it. The website said it opens at 7am. They didn’t open the doors until 7:10 and then they spent a few minutes setting up. We set off to the side and waited. We finally walked up at 7:15 to order Monkey Bread. We were told they didn’t have any. They needed to cook it and it would take at least another 20+ minutes. It would seem a place named Monkey Bread that sells and is known for Monkey Bread would have said Monkey Bread ready to order and consume at opening. Why not just open up at 7:30 when everything is cooked or have workers show up at 6:30 so the restaurant is actually functioning at 7? Not good business practices and...
Read moreI tried monkey bread. I was not impressed at all. I seen the advertisement on cbs3. So I thought I would try it. The bread was very hard first of all. The kids running the place took to long to ring people up. There should have been some adults also in the store. Not impressed. I would not recommend it at all. I will not be returning as a customer. Poor Service and food tastes bad. I would think they should bake the bread every day fresh and better customer service. We do need adults running some businesses. I was there this past Saturday. They should offer to heat up the monkey bread also. The lemonade was very bland also. To many lemons. I was spitting out the...
