Gender and Human Rights Violation
I recently had an appalling experience at the Mixed Champagne Lounge in Ontario, which I feel compelled to share. It was a night of celebration that turned into a nightmare due to the complete disregard for gender and human rights, the gross mistreatment of a non-binary person of color, and the abhorrent actions of the establishment’s staff.
I visited this establishment with a non-binary friend who uses they/them pronouns. They asked if they could accompany me to the male restroom, and I hesitantly suggested it might be safer not to. Little did I know how crucial that decision would be.
While I was in the bathroom stall, my non-binary friend seemingly entered the bathroom after me. Shockingly, two black security guards followed them into the stall, immediately resorting to physical violence, shouting at both of us, and demanding that we leave the premises, while also being physically violent with my non-binary friend. My non-binary friend reported that the security guards swung at them multiple times, striking them in the chest.
Their actions in violating my basic human rights while I was in a vulnerable state were not only unjust but also deeply distressing. Despite my plea for a peaceful resolution, the security guards continued their aggressive behavior, physically assaulting my non-binary friend and forcibly removing them from the club. I, too, was physically lifted and carried out, despite offering no resistance and clearly complying.
Once outside, I expressed my dissatisfaction with their behavior, deeming it unacceptable. I requested to speak with a manager, but one of the security guards falsely claimed to be the manager.
We called the police to report the blatant violation of our basic gender and human rights. However, the actual manager who later emerged spoke to the police, misgendering my non-binary friend as “a girl” who had followed me into the bathroom . This deceitful narrative led to us being unjustly expelled from the premises and trespassed.
Importantly, all of the events described above were documented and can be referenced from recordings in the possession of the club.
I reached out to the club through their provided email and phone number to address the incident and inquire in addition, about my missing debit card, which had not been returned by the bartender. A response from a relative of the CEO, Mr./Ms. Carr, promised that a manager would contact me regarding both my property and the incident. Regrettably, I am yet to hear from anyone associated with the establishment. Additionally, the organization has failed to provide sufficient evidence that they are not holding onto my personal property.
In the absence of pursuing legal action, I am left with no choice but to share this review to shed light on the deplorable events that transpired. I was brutally manhandled, my non-binary friend was subjected to violence, and continuously misgendered throughout the ordeal. Furthermore, the establishment lacked proper accommodations for non-binary individuals, and no effort was made to communicate their policies before resorting to violence.
In light of this horrifying experience and the lack of accountability demonstrated by the organization, I implore anyone considering visiting this establishment to think twice. This is not a place that values the dignity and safety of its patrons. My hope is that by sharing this review, we can raise awareness about the reprehensible actions that took place at the Mixed Champagne Lounge in Ontario and prevent others from experiencing the...
Read moreI had to give this place another try. They had an artist that I am a huge fan of showing that night. And I wasn’t even surprised at how chaotic it was. This place has so much potential if they get a good manager in there. No lines just a crowd of ppl pushing through each other . Security is so unprofessional and not really paying attention just chit chatting with ppl I’d assume are friends there’s ppl standing ontop of every piece of furniture available. The bartenders seemed overwhelmed and there wasn’t even a crowd at the bar. Place is not maintained through the night it gets nasty. Last time I got a booth and they were disgusting so this time I didn’t and there was nowhere to sit down that wasn’t covered in dirt and sticky grime or had someone standing on it. Drinks were priced okay. But weren’t done well at all. Order 2 of the same thing and they will taste completely different. Dj was better this time but still couldn’t really dance because it was choppy and included a lot of advertisements. Which was weird. Think of listening to the radio in the middle of a night club lol. I’ve given this place a bunch of tries because they do feature some great artists but it just...
Read moreI went for a Saturday night event. Going out with the girls. The same security guard at TWO different times aggressively man handled us and we are only 5’2. I was standing at the side of the dance floor when this security guard decided I was in his way and aggressive pushed me out the way, I didn’t even see him coming. N ended up smushing my face with an open hand after I pushed him back away from the pushing. 15 mins later fully body slams my friend for twerking on the podium - where her and other girls were dancing the whole time. It was disturbing, violating n so aggressive for no reason. Security are there to protect! Not attack defenseless n harmless girls going out to have fun. He needs to be fired immediately. Plz do mental health checks before hiring security! My friend has bruises and my...
