I adore this place. I live near by so we go a lot. The cantaloupe ice cream is a local big deal. I hear people talking about it at work and my family can't get enough of it! The lady that owns this place is so super duper nice and her daughter makes tons of the decorations. Everytime a passer through asks me for what I recommend doing in the area I usually recommend here. You have to get ice cream on vacation right? Much better to get small batch and small owned ice cream then one of the box stores. The flavors are more fun too! She has a few staples but they change a good deal incase you wanna try somwthing new or sricl with what you know! And they make the waffle cones themselves!!! They are so good 🤤 I made a point last time I went to go when I heard they were making them so I could have a fresh one 😈 they make them frequently so they are all fresh I just wanted it warm 😂 I could eat just the cone and be happy lol. Oh and they have milk shales and floats too! I've tried them all and they are all great 😂 I was skeptical about 7 up and ice cream but this ladies magic, I tell you it's great! There's also a locals discount so if you don't wanna pay the crazy taxes here it takes off 10% and seeing as all the taxes add up to about 16% thats a good discount in my opinion ♡ I even told her I didn't want it cuz I'd feel wrong getting a discount at a small bussiness, and she insisted. Next I wanna try the ice...
Read moreThe Bad News is I didn’t take a picture to show what a great cone I got. The Good News is I’ll be back so that’s not a big deal. We LOVE our ice cream on vacation and try to find our fixture parlor in every city or town we visit!
Scoops is right next to Food City and down the street from The Island entertainment center. So the ambiance is simple and has enough seating for about 10-15 people. Family owned and operated, I struck up the best conversation with the owner who opened Scoops after her daughter moved here from N.C.
All of the flavors are designed and fashioned by her so no cartons or brands here. Just smooth, creamy, and generous scoops of ice cream and sorbets. For me it was traditional cookies and cream with giant chunks of Oreo and a banana pudding with vanilla wafer chunks that should be a southern delicacy! This was in the best waffle cone I’ve ever had that actually had taste and was sturdy and enough to hold the ice cream.
At the End of the Day. Scoops is now officially our parlor in the Smoky Mountains for future visits and look forward to many...
Read moreMy family is vacationing out here and found this hidden gem by accident. We were at the shops close by and Googled "ice cream parlor." The usual big box places showed up, some creamery spots and then this one was way tucked in the results.
When I clicked on it and saw the very few positive reviews, I was quite skeptical. The street view showed a forest and a picture of the supposed front (I wasn't convinced this place actually existed based off the street view). It didn't sound promising. But it's vacation and you don't eat at places you have at home so we took a chance.
Well smack me sideways and call me a dummy because not only does this place exist (the area is well built up and the Google Street view is woefully inaccurate), the ice cream was phenomenal. In fact, phenomenal is an understatement. It is all homemade and the flavors were spot on. I had a banana pudding sundae and my wife had a key lime pie sundae and they were beyond delicious.
I highly recommend you stop in. You won't be disappointed!! If anything, it gets you out of the crazy traffic on...
