Like many places in San Antonio, this food hall depends on its “Instagram-ability” to stay open. But photographable food and gluttonous dining area is the most this place can serve. The food is entire too overhyped AND, naturally, overpriced.
But I have a specific piece of critique that really fuels my distaste for this place — their attitude towards the cyclists who, time & time again, have tried to enjoy the patio after a Sunday morning ride. While not every single one of us orders food/drink from MRM, we all spend time together there. And if an employee/staff member complains about us existing there, EVEN AFTER spending our money there, you can guarantee what the word spreads.
There is no lack of conversation about this place among the hundreds of cyclists within the SA cycling community. We are reluctant to order from MRM because we feel unwelcome.
If love to know, truly, when else is MRM being swarmed with patrons like the cyclists? There are a million options to eat mediocre & overpriced food all over the city. Who are cyclists scaring away? I never see ANYone else in or outside the building.
MRM, my advice to you is that you gain some humility, and consider changing your attitude towards cyclists; we aren’t going away, and Mila Coffee will only continue to...
Read moreCalling this a food hall is a a misnomer. I went last night with my partner and my friend. We ordered beer at Idle (which is always great), then we went into the courtyard area. My friend was hungry, so she decided to try Garaje Cantina for pizza. She attempted to go through the courtyard, but the gates leading to other locations were padlocked, so she had to walk back into and through Idle to go out. Once she ordered at Garaje, the guy taking her order told her she couldn’t take it outside. So she had to sit there eating alone while we waited for her in the courtyard. After my friend was able to join us again, we mentioned to the Idle bartender what happened and she informed us my friend should have been allowed back into the courtyard. So now I’m confused because we’re being told two different things. What’s the point of opening a “food hall” if it’s not really going to allow customers to sit together when ordering from different vendors? Or, worst-case scenario, maybe someone needs to explain to some of its vendors the concept of a food hall? I would love to go back, because the concept and the brewery are great, but maybe I’ll wait for the wrinkles to...
