After we figured out the restaurant was in a food court style building we were met with open arms from Victor. I had called from Austin area and said I wanted to get some puffy tacos for my birthday. And Victor said when I got there asked for him and he’ll make sure and take care of me. Victor definitely got my order going and my wife’s order the same thing we each got one beef and one chicken puffy taco. Came with a side of rice and beans. While we waited, he proceeded to tell us the story of the restaurant. Very interesting that it’s been open For quite some time now and this was their newest location. We also got hand, cut, kind of a whole grain style chips and salsa. Handmade as well while we waited and drank a frozen margarita that was pretty good as well. The food came out fairly quick enough and I am definitely a puffy taco connoisseur. And these definitely fit the bill. They are so light and airy and crunchy and the filling in each one was both just as good as the other. I always like to get one of each, although I do like beef Better than chicken if I had to choose one, but they were both just as good. They also came with handmade tortillas. My wife got flour and I got corn and both were made fresh in house. Also, while we were waiting, Victor came out, made sure everything was good so far and gave me a sample of another of their famous products called a bowl taco filled with guacamole and then the other one was filled with rice and beans. If you can imagine a mini puffy taco bowl , that’s kind of how to describe it. Victor even offered me a cookie for my birthday, but I was so stuffed and I’m also gluten-free so I told him thanks. But I did ask if they sold shots of tequila, and he said he did and so he gave me a shot for my birthday instead of a cookie, which I like better anyway All in all, it was worth the trip from the Austin area I live in Round Rock just north of Austin and I will definitely be going back to see Victor and to have some great puffy tacos. On another note, they have a full menu of Tex-Mex food. I did not try any of it except for what’s listed. But they have a add a enchilada to your order. I probably would’ve done that, but I probably really would’ve been so stuffed because everything definitely filled me up So go see Victor and tell him Chad review sent...
Read moreOmg this place was so good!! So I was craving enchiladas so I found this little spot inside the Make ready food market, and when I say this lil spot has flavors that brought me back to being at my grandma's when I was a kid and eating her picadillo, or the refried beans, omg I was In heaven, but the best was when I had their picadillo cup, so they form their corn mask into a lil cup, fry it up and fill with beans and cheese or picadillo and cheese, when I say this lil bad boy was pure nostalgia, in every bite I can taste flavors that you just can't find anymore, the flavors and smells that I grew up with where all on this enchilada plate and picadillo cup. You gotta try both cups and they sell a bean or picadillo roll, just like the ones that my dad and grandparents made us growing up. I expressed my delight and and shared my thought on the food with the owner, he was really great, and told me their main location that had been around for years is off San Pedro and they have everything I ate here. But I give them 5+stars and suggest if your wanting authentic homemade Mexican food, stop by and try them out, you won't be...
Read moreWe’ve been following The Taco Chronicles since it debuted on Netflix in 2019, and during our travels, we’ve tracked down nearly every featured spot—except one: Teka Molino. We were thrilled to finally check it off our list at their new location inside Make Ready Market near the Pearl. We came for their Netflix-famous puffy taco and were blown absolutely blown away! After trying just about every puffy taco in San Antonio, we can honestly say this was the best version yet!
The green enchiladas were fresh and flavorful (something in that green sauce has me hooked!) and the hand-shaken margaritas (shoutout to Victor, the manager and mixologist!) were absolutely on point! Judging by the fancy margarita cups found all over the Make Ready tables-10/10 tables agree!
We even got to meet the owners, who were in the kitchen preparing food themselves, along with their family and staff. Everyone was pitching in with smiles and genuine hospitality. We will definitely be returning to Teka Molino for our post-Pilate’s Margaritas on Sunday or perhaps a green enchiladas with our...
