Little Shucker is where The Grove used to be on Fillmore and they’ve really done a great job renovating the space.
My friend and I ordered the chips with dip to share. The dip is sour cream, chives, and fried shallots. It’s simple, but delicious!
For myself, I got the baked garlic butter oysters, the roasted nori cauliflower, Cesar, salad, and a nonalcoholic wine spritzer. That was the perfect lunch! The baked oysters were cooked so perfectly! The the oysters were so plump and juicy. I really like the addition of the bread crumbs on top. I also got one oyster with caviar for an additional five dollars. It was a good serving of caviar too. And it wasn’t over the top - I thought it enhanced the flavors of the big oyster really well. But they’re also good on their own so if you’re not a caviar fan you’re not missing out. But I suggest you treat yourself because you deserve it and get that caviar.
The roasted nori cauliflower was also really good. It had a good char and smokiness which balance well with the overall acidity of the dish. The Caesar salad was pretty big and my friend and I probably could’ve shared it. I’ve never had anchovies with my Caesar salad. I know that they’re usually in the dressing but the salad has literal anchovy meat in it. I thought it was good because it added a saltiness to the salad.
I am so glad that they have a few nonalcoholic options because I currently cannot drink alcohol at the moment. My white wine spritzer was delicious and not too sweet.
This place is really popular, so I recommend getting reservations. My friends and I tried going on a Friday night during the week of Burning Man since the city is usually empty during that time. Though their website says they save tables for walk-ins, that was unfortunately not the case that night as they were fully booked. So I recommend getting reservations if you plan on...

Walked in for drinks + food in mid afternoon around 2:30pm. Was told that the table given to us had a reservation coming up in 1 hour 45 mins, which was plenty of time so we gladly accepted. Ordered one of the popular (and pricey) items on the menu and liked the food. Then my wife had to go fetch something from the car and stepped out. In the next 10 mins as I was waiting for her to return, the waiter/waitress would check on me every 2-3 mins asking if we were done / when we could vacate (we were only less than 1 hr in by then) because there was a schedule change. Trying to be understanding, I agreed to wrap up and leave by 3:30pm (45 mins before the time initially offered to us). The constant check-in continued and finally I told them bluntly it was disruptive. The fact that I was reading a book while waiting for my wife to return apparently made me an easier target to boot compared to folks at nearby tables with just 2 emptied drinks but sitting/chatting for much longer than the time we spent there. Oh worth mentioning: there was nobody waiting to be seated at the time.
On the bill, 20% gratitude was suggested. I was planning to change it upon signing to a different % that would better match the service quality, only to be told that there was nothing to sign and the charge went thru with the restaurant mandated tips.
Honestly, instances like this are becoming the norm for San Francisco/Bay Area. But what Little Shucker did in our case takes “overrated poor service” to...
Read moreI've walked by this place and few times and because it looked so aesthetic inside. We tried to come here once on a tuesday evening and got turned away because they stop seating at 9 (it was 9:03 😭). We came back a few weeks later on a wednesday evening at 8 and there was no wait at all.
The service was great - out waiter was super friendly and the food came out really fast.
We got a few spritzes and some bread to start. The bread was mid. The spritzes were incredible and cute topped with little real flowers, except my carnanation had an ant in it which died on my ice cube.
Next, we got the roasted nori cauliflower and baked oyster rockefellers. Both were incredibly flavorful - but I think our cauliflower bowl was at most 4 chopped up florets (which is a very small portion for the price).
And we ended with a hot lobster roll and the bangs islands mussels. The mussels plate looked pretty impressive and was good but the sauce was mid. The lobster roll was mouthwatering - the bread was soaked in butter (in a good way) and there was a good amount of lobster in it - definitely order it hot over cold.
And at the end they let us know that there was an automatic 20% surcharge as a tip for the staff. Which is fine, but also the tax was put after the automatic tip :( so our bill was higher than we expected.
Overall, the food was good but a little to pricey for the portion sizes. But its the perfect place to look moderatly cute and meet up with your friends for a nice...
