PLEASE REVIEW HONESTLY: my review is below but please know that when the restaurant responded to my review they implied that my family members life threatening allergy was very light and not life threatening. They have a few other allergies that we don’t mention as they aren’t life threatening like black pepper. Also they told me that I was the problem that our food tasted like we were consuming plain salt because we can’t handle salt. I’m sorry but we mentioned it to the staff because we were concerned with the excess amount of salt in the food as all 6 of us only tasted salt as we all tried the steak and lamb to make sure we weren’t going crazy. We always add an excessive amount of salt to all our food so it is hard for us to say that something has too much salt. I feel so sad that was the restaurants reaction to my honest review. Their words and implications have hurt my family and now tainted what was a nice birthday memory and turned it sour. We truly had a wonderful experience with their staff as they did make this birthday special despite all of the missteps that occurred with our food and drinks.
It was an experience for sure. Everything was very expensive please know. My family went for a birthday we were a party of 6. We all had different foods steak, pasta, shrimp, lamb chops. Everything was extremely salty we did mention it and we were told that’s how the food comes. It all tasted like we were consuming plain salt we could not taste the flavor of the steak or lamb chops because of the excess salt. Every single person in our party made this comment and we are the type of people who always add salt because the food is missing salt. Our drinks were just ok the margarita was the best drink of them all. I had el jardín and wow that was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever had. I was told it was the sweetest drink they had. It was bitter and had a strange after taste and the creamy elements did not mix well with the lime at all. They were accommodating to allergies by giving the person buttered noodles with cheese. They wanted the carbonara but since it had black pepper they were told they could not have it. I ordered the carbonara as my side and the person had it and had zero allergic reaction to it. This person always gets a rash and their throat closes up in under a minute when they consume black pepper we always carry an epi pen incase they have an allergic reaction. We were very confused as the chef told us it contained a lot of black pepper so it would not be safe to consume but they had the entire side dish and were completely fine. My family member who had the jumbo shrimp were just regular sized that I would get from the store in the cocktail shrimp party pack. It was disappointing as there were only 6 and small for the price. I would only return for their bread pudding as it is the most delicious thing I have ever had. I am someone who has never liked bread pudding and had many bread puddings through my life. It was truly exceptional please go and try it as it was so good. They had someone playing live music on the violin and he was truly fantastic. I would recommend getting a reservation as from what we had seen on the restaurant it was highly recommended to do so. But to be honest it was completely empty on a Saturday night at 7pm. It’s also quite a tourist heavy location for it to...
Read moreAs you have probably read this restaurant has treated us, a full group of 10 people, unfairly. First, of course there are several reviews because again there were 10 of us that experienced the same treatment. Next, we arrived at 9:40 pm for a 9:45 pm reservation (Screenshots of videos posted below).
There was a great violinist playing & we were excited. We sat down after a little confusion and they did accommodate us by arranging separate tables to fit our group. We thanked them & sat down. We then ordered cocktails & a simple order of a sprite & red wine. We received our drinks one by one & began talking amongst ourselves as we have been doing at any other establishment since we have been here.
We then had a woman waitress take our orders. She took everyone's order without problem & even told us at that time what was & was not available. (please keep this in mind)
We then waited & talked amongst ourselves & the same woman waitress tried to serve us TWO orders of potato soup when only ONE was ordered. We told her this, she left, came back, & tried to STILL serve us this potato soup. We attributed this to the language barrier.
We waited some more & at around about 10:46ish we were told that the THREE orders of lobster bisque was "not up to par, & the chef was not comfortable serving it" even with our disappointment we then tried to figure out what else to order...
We waited a few minutes more before a member of our party asked how much longer it would be before the other orders were going to be served
She was told that it will be about another hour, that would mean our food that was ordered over an hour ago would not be severed to us until 2 hours after we ordered... UNACCEPTABLE especially since at this point there was only one other party there which had about the same amount of people and the same amount of noise volume.... so I am not sure what was meant by our party was being disruptive & was making the other parties uncomfortable
Also we were never asked to leave, in fact once we voiced our concerns, they apologized & tried to give a table of 10 GROWN people a plate of 10 shrimp... which surprisingly was severed to us immediately... while food that we ordered over an hour ago was not going to be served to us for another hour..... interesting...
We then asked for the bill for the drinks & appetizers that were served to us & they stated that they were going to take care of it because if their mistakes... we thanked them & left... without eating the sympathy shrimp they tried to serve us...
We left at 11:02 PM (still in good spirits) with 2 people having only appetizers & the rest of us only having drinks but we were there since 9:40 PM, you do the math...
We then decided to warn others to provide awareness & post our reviews... the restaurant responded but there was accountability and we were called liars, told that were being disruptive & asked to leave when that never happened, & was stated that the reviews are coming from one account... AGAIN there were 10 people there, with the service provided you should expect 10 bad reviews...
Is this how you would like an upscale restaurant to...

I recently visited Dos Fridas in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with a group of ten, and had an extremely disappointing experience. We arrived at 9:40 PM for our 9:45 PM reservation, but the hostess immediately claimed we didn’t have a reservation. It wasn’t until another staff member intervened that we were seated.
Once seated, we scanned the QR code for the menu and promptly ordered drinks. One person ordered red wine, and another ordered a Sprite, but these drinks never arrived. We placed our food order at 10:04 PM, right before taking a round of pictures, so we know the time stamp is correct. Our appetizer order included potato soup, multiple orders of lobster bisque, Caesar salad, and garlic shrimp. We also all ordered main courses.
At 10:30 PM, we were surprised that none of our appetizers had arrived, but we continued to wait patiently. By 10:50 PM, only the potato soup and Caesar salad had just been served. The manager then informed us that the lobster wasn’t up to par to be served, but this was not communicated to us until over 45 minutes after we placed our order. The garlic shrimp we ordered never arrived, and when we inquired, the manager insisted that we had just placed our order at 10:34 PM, which was incorrect.
The manager was extremely unprofessional and rude, refusing to acknowledge their mistake and instead arguing with us - he was literally arguing with us back and forth. By this time at 10:54 PM, we were informed that we wouldn’t receive our food for another hour. At that point, we decided we had had enough. We ended up just asking them to cancel the order.
To make matters worse, we were the only table out of about five others that had darker skin, and it was clear we were victims of colorism and racism. The manager exhibited blatantly racist behavior, making it clear that Black patrons are not welcome. This is unacceptable and deeply disturbing. The food and atmosphere cannot make up for such blatant discrimination. I strongly advise against visiting this restaurant, not just if you are a Black person, but for anyone who values being treated with respect and dignity. There are many other places in San Juan where you can enjoy good food without encountering such appalling treatment.
EDIT DUE TO RESTAURANT RESPONSE: Our party had 10 people and we all had the same experience so there will be similar reviews. You can clearly tell that they are racist through the unprofessional response. Going onto my profile to address the amount of reviews that I have posted over the last 20 years for restaurants is petty work, because you didn’t mention all the positive reviews left. Nonetheless; video proof of our experience will be posted on TikTok! Additionally, we were not asked to leave, they literally brought us shrimp appetizers at the end and said we could stay to have...
