Savannah Tequila Company is a slam dunk, 5 star establishment to visit. Spacious restaurant, upbeat decor, right vibe, great drinks, food and service. What more could you ask for? Located in Riverside District just to the left of the smokestacks. Parking in small lots along river or wherever you can find. Very pleasant appearing outdoor dining available, was too hot on Friday, Aug 13. Greeted courteously, service was very prompt and friendly. Pamela was very knowledgeable and made great suggestions. Just added to a great experience. Drink menu featured 140 (!!!) tequilas and unique margaritas and tequila based drinks. We started with a Durango Margarita (spicy take on traditional marg) and a Jalisco Sunset (Blood Orange) Marg. Both excellent. Had Gorditas al Pastor (Pamela’s suggestion) as appetizer. Think slice out of an oversized tamale, battered in corn meal and deep fried. Very tasty. Ordered Monterey Burrito and Chicken Tinga Flautos as main course. See menu for description. Large portions, artfully presented. Delicious. No Taco Bell here. Follow up drinks: The Passion (passion fruit marg) and a Smoked Tequila Old Fashioned. The Passion - tasty as expected; again, expertly prepared. The Old Fashioned (Pamela suggestion) was the grand finale. I’m a bourbon guy so a bit uncertain but figured, “What the heck.” Consisted of shots of reposada tequila and mezcal, then agave syrup and orange bitters. Topped with freeze dried orange slice. The next step was unexpected: A small grid with hickory shavings set on top, flamed, then capped. Smoke trapped in glass for a few moments and, viola, Smoked Tequila Old Fashioned. Smoky like a medium peated Scotch with the smoothest Tequila I’ve ever had. Very reminiscent of the traditional Old Fashioned but pleasantly different. Great cocktail. Great experience, highly recommended for lunch, dinner or drinks with friends.

Was craving some Mexican cuisine and decided to try this place since I was staying nearby. Checked in with the host since I made a reservation but decided to sit at the bar since it wasn’t busy. I was a little bummed she marked me as a no show later when I checked my app. They had a lot of fun options for margaritas and tequila. I tried 3 things since I couldn’t make up my mind. The bartender was accommodating of my needs, not super pleasant, but nice enough. The ambiance was vibrant and decor fit the vibe. Crispy Chicharron- I do love me some pork belly and they give you a heaping scoop of guacamole. My only complaint with this is it was served with a small side of warm salsa. I personally don’t eat salsa warm at all so it threw me off when I went to try and did not enjoy it or the flavor. I asked for just regular salsa verde instead (which was cold) 3 tacos - I asked for corn but it was made with flour by accident. They quickly got it fixed for me and the manager even stopped by to apologize and let me know it was working. Very nice! I asked for the mango salsa on the side which I enjoyed. They give you a good amount of meat as well. Chipotle Coffee rub ribs - HOLY COW! This was one of the most amazing ribs I’ve ever eaten. They were fork tender and the flavors of sweet, savory, spicy and a touch of bitter was excellent! The rice underneath was a great accompaniment and I wish I had more. The tangy slaw on top was a nice touch. I was blown away by this and pleasantly surprised. I will literally be back to only eat this dish and it was a big portion.

I honestly wasn’t expecting a whole lot from this visit since Georgia isn’t really known for their Mexican food but I was craving some tequila and margaritas so I figured I would give it a go on the food since we were here. First off the Spicy Margaritas are absolutely amazing plus I had a shot of Casa Noble Blanco tequila. We started off with the Trio Sampler which was amazing and the tortilla chips were super fresh. Then we had the Brisket Nachos along with a side order of street corn. We also had 3 tacos Chicken tinga, shrimp and the brisket birria. The corn tortillas on the tacos are some of the freshest and most tasty corn tortillas I have ever had. Let me tell you that the brisket on the nachos and in the taco was super flavorful and so so tender. The street corn top notch. To be honest this is the only Mexican restaurant that I have been in Georgia that I actually had to go back to have it again which we did last night! The service we had both nights from our servers were GREAT-We had Maura the first night then had Wade last night so we want to thank them as well for the great experience. Savannah Tequila Co. atmosphere along with food and service we give them 5 stars all across the board! Thank you!!

AVOID - TERRIBLE SLOW SERVICE ON A MONDAY NIGHT. What a horrible experience last night. My husband and 2 kids arrived on time for our reservation and were seated by the manager. We ordered chips and dip and a margarita as starters, as well as meals. 45 minutes later - still no starter or margarita. 45 min after arrival, a runner brings 2 meals and I let her know we haven’t even gotten the starter or margarita. She leaves (no apology or offer to find anything out for us) and I see her talking to our server, CARMELA, who doesn’t even look up or come talk to us. Several minutes later, Carmela FINALLY brings the chips and dip and I let her know that while I realize she doesn’t have complete control over the kitchen, we don’t want our meals left under a warmer to get stale while we eat the chips, just because they can’t time their kitchen correctly. She immediately gets huffy and condescending and keeps saying she’ll put the order back in after “we let her know when we are ready”, like we are inconveniencing her. Why would we chance our food taking another 45 min yo be made? Also, she offers ZERO apologies at all. I tell her that SHE needs to be responsible for timing the order after we have been given at least a few minutes to eat our starter that took almost an hour to arrive. She then gets a huge loud attitude and tells me that she doesn’t appreciate the way I’m speaking to her and that even my husband is giving me side-eye. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?? My non-confrontational husband was letting me handle the situation and she’s trying to make it like he’s against me in expressing our dissatisfaction with TERRIBLE service???😂😂. She says she’s going to bring the manager over like she’s going to tell on me or something, so I said “yes, please do that”. The manager came over, and to his credit, he at least apologized profusely when I let him know that we have been there for almost an hour, and I haven’t even received the margarita and just received the chips and that his employee is giving serious attitude and it’s completely uncalled for and inappropriate. As for Carmela - listen, I realize restaurant work can be hard and everyone has off days, but she showed ZERO remorse or accountability for her terrible behavior. As a former server for many years - she should be ashamed of herself. I would have been fired on the spot back in the day. We got up and left even though my kids were starving - there was no way we were spending a single dang dollar in that establishment. I wish I had heeded the warning about the slow and terrible service in other reviews. I’ll also add that the restaurant was less than half full. Avoid...

Food was good but this place needs start over when it comes with service, especially with the manager. Restaurant wasn't very busy and when we were sat, no one came to our table for 10 minutes. Not a hey we'll be right with you, or sorry we're under staffed, just ignored like no one knew who was supposed to wait on us. The red head in a bun manager walks by several times, oblivious to all of this. Finally we flagged down Trevor who indicated someone else had our table and he'd ask if she wanted it, and if she didnt, he'd take it. He comes back a few minutes later and says ok i guess i'm your waiter. He takes our order and the food comes out pretty quickly. And we don't see him again for awhile. Never asked if we wanted drinks and didnt check in. Finally came back about 15 mins later and saw that we were watching football on our phone. He says "hey sorry i haven't been back, im doing the same thing you guys are", indicating he's been watching the game in the back. Trevor was nice but we found this bizarre and something you don't share with your guests when they haven't had service for 15 minutes.. Food was decent but this place needs to train their employees. The girl working the front desk has zero soft skills and appears to be non-verbal but I would guess its just lack of training and a general disdain for her job. Never understood why people like this are client facing. Our first interaction with your restaurant shouldnt be with someone who can't even say hi and appears annoyed that you are there. Alex made a great margarita at the bar but is very protective about the bar chairs which apparently can't be pulled to the high top tables, despite 8-10 chairs being available. As noted earlier, the manager girl appears to know nothing about hospitality. When you see a table sitting ignored for 10 mins, take action. The table next to us also didn't cleaned for 15 minutes. Just dirty plates and napkins. Again, the restaurant was not busy. Tons of servers standing around, and apparently at least one watching football... Lots of operational issues here. Too bad because the food came out very fast and was decent. Id start a...

I know a lot of reviews start off with "with all the good reviews, I was ...", but yeah. So a friend wanted to have a birthday meal there, and the only way we could schedule all 5 of us attending, was to make it lunch, instead of dinner. Maybe that makes a difference here? First, my wife and I were the first to arrive, about 5 minutes ahead of the reserved time and we stood at the host stand at the entrance for those 5 minutes before we were greeted. The person who greeted us came rushing out from the back of house and apologized for the delay. We told her were were there meeting friends with a reservation for a tablet of five. She seemed not to know a thing about it until she looked at her bookings. Our friends were running late, so it didn't matter that the table wasn't set up or even cleared yet. We were seated though, and a very nice young woman came to greet us, we told her that our friends would be joining us. No offer to take a drink order though. In fact, our server NEVER took a drink order at any point in the service. My wife had to interject and ask for some tea. I'm the more assertive of the group, and I wanted to try at least one of the extensive tequilas they offer. But I waited until the rest of the party to arrive. When they did I asked her for a shot of tequila and a beer, at no point did she ask any of the other 4 people at the table if they wanted a drink of any sort, although thankfully there was water on the table. I should say that I think the server was very, very new, and as I joked to my companions, that "everyone is new once". So, yeah, the service was lousy, but yeah, new person. The menu looked good, and I ordered two al pastor, and one birria taco. The pork in the al pastor tacos was tough and under marinated, and calling that a birria taco is a lie. There was virtually no seasoning at all and it tasted like tough pot roast. I've had birria tacos all over the place and this was not even close. So yeah maybe this was a bad coincidence of shitty service AND shitty food, but as a local I'm not inclined to pay tourist prices for pot roast tacos and lousy service again...
