Not only did we not enjoy it, I can’t in good conscience recommend that anyone eat here.
My girlfriend and I stopped here for a snack on Sunday before our flights out. It’s a perfect location and the views were spectacular, and we sat at the bar. We ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell and hush puppies.
The oysters came out on a bed of rock salt, not ice, and they were room temperature. Oysters should be cold or hot, not anything in between. I asked the bartender where the oysters were from and she gave me a nonspecific answer of “Virginia.” They had a smell that wasn’t altogether unpleasant, but wasn’t clean, and they hadn’t been fully released from the shells either. We ate them because it felt like a safe assumption that maybe a seafood restaurant would know better.
Unfortunately for both of us, that turned out not to be the case. We both spent the last day and a half dealing with moderately severe food poisoning, and after reaching out to management by phone I have heard nothing.
Suffice to say, not only will we never return to this establishment but I can only recommend that no one else eat here either if they are willing to serve oysters in such an unsafe manner. If a “seafood restaurant” is unwilling to take food safety surrounding something like oysters seriously, then I wouldn’t trust them to handle...
Read moreMade a spare of the moment decision to eat here on a Sunday evening sat down with my dinner partner and ordered our food. There weren’t many people seated at the time but shortly after more people began seating and surprising all received their food before us as we had been there about 25 30 minutes by that time. We got our orders and everything looked pleasing but my fish and chips were not warm at all the fish was room temp Aka cold and so were the fries both, were hard to the touch and taste. I wasn’t going to say anything to waiter at first which he himself was very pleasant and professional. But decided it was only fair so we let the person who brought the food over know. he seemed bothered by the mention he asked if I wanted it heated I declined bc I was just going to keep it. He then offered me a alternate serving which I was hesitant, I didn’t want to make a big thing bc it really wasn’t. The server walked away saying here they are all the same. I said no they’re not bc the second box was actually hot. It was awkward from that point on. I didn’t even want it anymore so I just put it in a bag to go My partners food was satisfactory but it was a no for me. It’s not good for the patron to feel bad bc of the...
Read moreMy recent visit to District Seafood was marred due to an unsettling incident involving my ID, lasting about 45 minutes. The initial bartender confiscated it, examined it with a smirk, and adamantly claimed it was fake. Despite my attempts to engage in a conversation, he remained unresponsive and failed to provide any further explanation or acknowledgment.
As the situation escalated, the bartender disappeared to the back with my ID and did not come back. Noticing another bartender conversing with a security guard, I approached her seeking an explanation. She mentioned involving the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), but communication remained poor, and rudeness prevailed throughout our interaction.
Frustrated and left in the dark, I had no choice but to call the police myself. The resolution, however, was anticlimactic, as the GBI took no action, and my ID was simply run by the responding officer I had called.
Amidst this ordeal, I couldn't help but feel a sense of discrimination, especially as a Latina. The lack of transparency and professionalism, coupled with the accusatory nature of the ID situation, has left me deeply disappointed with my experience at...
