Update 2/2024: Still a good experience. Interesting if you look at updated pics though. Filet was slightly small - really needs a smaller plate and the potatoes were not as full. Would not recommend brussel sprouts unless you like “Char”. We asked for jon-alcoholic mocktails and they were pretty good but were not on the menu. I think they sat us in bar area, even though we reserved because we were in jeans (dark ones with button up and nice blouse and shoes). The last time we were in main dining which was a better experience. This should be listed if this is a thing so you dress accordingly. The bar area is nice. Open and still on point with style but for spending $250 would have preferred the dining area. The bar is inside., as there is no outside seating. There was 2 ladies at the bar, with a dog that they were throwing food on the floor for it to eat. Normally I would not care but for a $250 meal, was a bit surprised, there were non-service animals allowed in the restaurant. The dog occasionally barked and was also moving around in front of wait staff. Additionally sitting right next to bar, really didn’t care to hear the manager basically disciplining wait staff over a mistake. Good chophouse. Not sure if we would return. While it was good food, the price just was a bit too much.
2/2021: We visit Savannah multiple times a year. Decided to try Stone & Webster for our 25th anniversary. Overall, was a good dinner. We had theDelmonico Ribeye, Filet Mignon, Knife & Fork Caesar Salad, Potato Puree, Kessler Cab, and Moscato. Presentation on everything was spot on. The steaks were Medium Rare and cooked perfectly. Potatoes were creamy and fantastic with all the toppings. Salad could have used slightly more dressing, slightly dry. Both wines were great. Only questionable part of the whole dinner were the still water and wine glasses. I would swear they were a higher end plastic and not glass. No “clinking” of glass in a toast. Maybe die to COVID? not sure but seemed odd as other dinners with ice water looked to have glasses. The dining area was larger than expected. Being in far back was nice. It was cozy and quiet. Our server, Jared, was friendly and had lots of great recommendations. The speed of the meal was perfect. We never felt rushed or waiting for anything. The manager came by to check on us which was also a plus - would have mentioned Jared was doing well but we had mouthfuls of food at time manager came by. The prices were what I’d expect from a higher end chophouse, especially at a JW Marriott- although those glasses still have me a bit surprised. Given some other lower reviews, we were tempted to cancel the reservation and go elsewhere but decided to try anyway. My two suggestions: 1. The glasses. I know it seems trivial but was just a little touch that surprised me they weren’t glass (I literally could be wrong but hubby thought the same). 2. If a special event is mentioned in the reservation, acknowledge it. We have used Open Table elsewhere (and in Savannah) for special occasions and they restaurant always acknowledges in some way. I expected it and that left a little disappointment. Overall though, nice dinner. Comparable to Ruth Chris. We would go to...
Read moreI was treated here for a birthday dinner. I haven’t celebrated in years, so I was very excited. Our party was originally seating at the first table behind the hostess. We were the only people in the restaurant so we opted for a more private seat in the back, round booths. First mistake. We were fanning ourselves the entire time, I wish I was exaggerating. One hand eating, the other with a menu fanning, nonstop. To the point a person was nauseous from the heat and her husband went to ask if there was anything that could be done to remedy the AC issue. Then, came the bugs, of course uncontrollable but definitely added to the stress. Our server was nice, as first. He sold the husbands on the steak special of course. Which was mediocre at best. Honestly, all of food was. Small portions, mild… mild flavor, just unimpressive. Which, it happens. But the cherry on top. It felt as if, once the orders were placed… our server completely disengaged. He became honestly rude, snatching things off of the table. To make point - there was something (a knife holder or small bowl, nothing to make haste in getting back to the kitchen) in between my husbands folded hands… it was snatched up like something away from a child (to the point we ALL were looking at each other of the sheer discomfort). Eventually the tab was placed on the table, no words spoken from our server, with all of our orders on one ticket. Which, clearly there were 2 separate couples… and we were met with dissatisfaction when we asked to please separate them. My husband, the man treating me to this birthday dinner… was heated, we all were. It was truly a disappointing evening out. I myself could have made a much better filet for a fraction and saved myself getting dressed up and driving 45 minutes through a storm for… just to sit in the heat, with bugs, made to feel as though a burden to the staff… for $250. The next day, my friends each called each other with the same sense and story of regret. A potentially great experience made into a poor one… a...
Read moreWe reserved the private smokestack room at Stone & Webster on Friday evening for my wife’s birthday, and it was an exceptional experience.
My initial contact was with Samara, who provided outstanding service over the phone and shared all the necessary details regarding the room rental. Following that, I corresponded with Sarahjane, the General Manager, who was very responsive and helpful in processing my reservation.
Our server, Jeremy, significantly contributed to our enjoyable experience. He was very personable and demonstrated extensive knowledge of the menu, which greatly assisted us in selecting the perfect dishes and beverages.
The food was truly among the best meals we have ever had. We ordered the 8oz Wagyu cooked medium-rare, highly recommended by Jeremy, and it was incredibly tender. The short ribs were also superb, falling off the bone and topped with a delicious savory jus sauce. Additionally, the grouper had an impressive presentation and featured a flavorful basil pistou sauce that was unlike any fish dish we had tasted before. As for the sides, we enjoyed the Yukon whipped potatoes, which were a fantastic suggestion from Jeremy, along with the zucchini, which was equally delightful.
We also ordered a filet mignon medium that came out well done. Jeremy was quick to get that rectified with the kitchen. The kids loved every bite!
We sampled all four desserts, and our children thoroughly enjoyed them. We managed a few bites as well, and they were truly delicious.
To complement our meal, we chose a bottle of champagne and a selection of red wine, both recommended by Jeremy, which added the perfect finishing touch to our evening.
Overall, I would rate our experience a 10/10 from start to finish. If you find yourself in Savannah, I highly recommend making a reservation and asking for Jeremy; you will not be...
