I normally do not share or review restaurants as I work in the restaurant industry myself and don’t feel it’s necessary.. but this experience was pretty sad.
My wife and I travelled into town today from Durango for her birthday trip. She was tired from a long day and we decided to grab a bottle of wine and try to order a couple of pizzas to go. The host sent us to the bar (which was busy) to order. We headed over and asked the bartender if we could order to go. He replied after I bang out a few drinks. Ok, cool.
After a bit we ordered and received no confirmation and direction of where to wait so we stood at the end of the bar and eventually backed away after not being addressed. Eventually we saw the pizzas come out as they were the only ones being made and waited a few minutes to see if anyone would bring them over. We had to ask to get the pizzas which had been sitting for a while. The bartender brought the check over and said here ya go, and desserts on the house with a few mints.. I went to tip and noticed my bill was $64 for two pizzas (which were maybe 8 inch pizzas) and realized there was 20% auto gratuity added to the bill.. in which we never were even seated, told where to wait, offered water etc… frustrated with the whole experience I scratched out my tip and left the bill. The pizzas were decent, dough is good. Nothing fancy, lacking toppings.. definitely not $25/pizza with the size. I get that this is at a resort and you need to make your money but if you’re adding gratuity to a customers to go bill, just say something. If you don’t want people to order take out just don’t accept the order.. thanks so much guys!! Overall not worth it. If you want pizza to go, head downstairs Napoli expresss grab a giant pie for half the price &...
Read moreGreat food and wonderful service in a crowded and loud uncomfortable space. A classic Italian restaurant in Snowmass village. Don't show up early for your reservation, they don't have any place to wait, don't offer you a drink while you wait, and are not pleasant about it. Reservations are required. The space is loud and crowded, not a romantic situation at all. I was continuously josseled by waiters going to other tables. However, the quality of the food and service make up for the significant deficiency in atmosphere.
Everyone at our table had excellent food. I had the pork, a juicy and well seasoned perfectly cooked bone-in tenderloin. It was unacceptable portion with tasty sides. The desert was spectacular. Both the tiramisu and the cheesecake tasted homemade, we're tractive, and tasted wonderful. An adequate wine list and bottled beer accompanied the meal for quite satisfactory offering.
The restaurant tries to affect a provincial Italian feeling, that comes off as crowded and kitchy. They're trying to fit too many people into too small of a space. One loud woman managed to ruin the first half of the night as the volume was so loud we basically had to yell at each other to hear each other. the tables are so close together the waiters cannot fit between them, often elbowing me in the head as they tried to move through with food for other parts of the restaurant. The table was significantly smaller that should have been to fit four people at, and we oftentimes had to shuffle around plates to find enough square footage in the table to fit anything. This was a sign of classic...

While they don’t have an option for online reservations, it was easy and straight forward to make a reservation by phone. When we arrived (party of 4), the place was busy with lots of people, but they promptly seated us at our table. I would recommend making a reservation if you don’t want to wait.
John took care of our table and had impeccable service & timing. We enjoyed John’s attentiveness to details: from refilling the water, replacing the cutlery, having shared plates - it made it an pleasurable dining experience. All of the food was delicious - you can’t go wrong. They brought bread for the table and it was fresh delicious warm bread, add it with good olive oil and that’s delicious in itself. The pizza is from a wood fired oven, beet salad was tasty, the quality of the shrimp in the spicy shrimp was on another level and the salad that came with that was flavorful, the pasta was perfect and the quality bolognese sauce...
