I recently visited this dessert shop in Solvang, and unfortunately, it turned out to be the most disappointing experience of my trip. I ordered two of the smallest servings of ice cream, sprinkled with rainbow-like sugar strands which, to my astonishment, cost an additional $1.50 just for a light sprinkle. These sugar toppings are typically inexpensive or even complimentary in other establishments. I also ordered a chocolate cake and a so-called “Iced Black Tea” which, to my dismay, was simply poured out of a pre-made container with no actual brewing or preparation involved. On top of that, they added a peach-flavored concentrate that seemed more like a synthetic additive than anything natural. This drink, which was 70% ice, was priced at $6.50 - an exorbitant amount for something so lacking in quality. The chocolate cake and the two small bowls of ice cream totaled a shocking $37. The pricing wasn’t conspicuously displayed, and it was only after careful observation post-purchase did I notice the extra charges for the sugar sprinkle. It’s hard to fathom paying $1.50 for a mere sprinkle, especially when in other places, it might be a few cents or even free. The fact that the “Iced Black Tea” was prepared in mere seconds and mostly consisted of ice cubes left me feeling cheated. Spending $6.50 for a glass of ice doesn’t make sense. Overall, I find the pricing and quality of this dessert shop to be utterly unreasonable. It’s a regrettable experience that I wouldn’t wish...
Read moreEsko's was awesome from start to sweet finish. We came back to Solvang just to come to this bakery because we did not have time the first time. We specifically came to buy the Stroopwafels and cinnamon rolls we saw in the window, but we ended up purchasing those plus additional items such as Turkish Coffee and Turkish Delight, a Savory Ground Beef Roll, a Danish Waffle, and coffee ice cream. The Turkish Coffee and Turkish Delight were hands down the best I have had in the United States. I particularly enjoyed the Turkish Delights because they were not super sweet like I have found in other places...they were the exact perfect amount of sweetness. The ice cream was great and so was the waffle. I also really enjoyed the savory beef roll which was great because I had asked the employee which beef pastry he recommended and he said that one was his favorite. He didn't steer me wrong! It was delicious! The employees and the owner were all very kind and made great recommendations. I haven't tried the cinnamon roll yet, but I'm sure it will be amazing too. I will definitely be back next time I come out this way. Thank you for such a wonderful...
Read moreMy Family is here visiting Solvang for my wife’s birthday to celebrate and enjoy the holiday vibes. We had a taste for some pastries and stopped in Esko’s. I ordered the Cinnamon Bowl, my wife had the Cherry Danish and my daughter ordered the cinnamon twist. I decided to add an iced caramel latte to my order. The server packed up our pastries and the went to make my coffee so we stepped outside to wait for the coffee. He called me for the coffee and it was a black coffee on ice and I asked is this your iced Carmel latte. He said oh I didn’t know you asked for a latte. Two minutes later he hands me what looks like a cup of milk. I asked “this is your iced Carmel latte?” He said yes this has coffee in it, to which I asked for extra espresso, he asked single or double? I’m thinking he was going to fix the issue, he then goes and rings me up for an additional $6 for the espresso. I ended up paying $15 for what ended up tasting like a vanilla Ice cream. Even after I added the espresso I never tasted any coffee. Won’t be ordering any coffee from there again. The pastries were...
