I make it a point to order the Reuben at every Irish restaurant I go to. I love the sandwich and like to see which restaurant does it better. McP’s definitely is at the bottom of my list. The corned beef was dry and had no flavor. The Swiss cheese wasn’t melted, the sauerkraut should have been a bold flavor in the sandwich and I couldn’t even taste it. When taking it off the sandwich I quickly found out why I didn’t taste it. It was nearly void of any flavor. The marble rye was saturated in butter and as crunchy as a crouton. In order to make the sandwich palatable in the slightest I had to request a vat of thousand island dressing. With the sandwich slathered in off the shelf dressing it was just enough to make it go down. Although, the sandwich quickly became a 1000 island sandwich as it was the only flavor distinguishable. I was hungry after a long day of hiking so I just ate it.
We were dining with my in laws and their meals were nothing to write home about. The ladies both ordered the stew. It was under seasoned and better fit for feeding livestock. I don’t complain often and if it were one thing wrong I’d of mentioned it. However, there was nothing they could have done as the problem was at the very core of the meals preparation. To add insult to injury, the bill came to 82.00 for four people at a pub!! 82.00 with NO alcohol! I’d steer clear unless you’ve already had...
Read moreThe service was great and the live music was the highlight of the night. We would have had a great time if we wouldn’t have been asked to leave the premises because of poor communication between manager and employees. I have never written a review before but I felt like this time it was necessary. We arrived to this place and the kitchen was already closed (about three hours before the bar closed) We asked one of the bartenders if we could bring food from across the street and they said it was OK. When we brought the food in, the manager for that shift said we couldn’t do that and that it was bad etiquete, so he suggested us to close our tab and finish eating our food somewhere else. He said that if he’d allowed that, people would then feel entitled to bring food from outside. We agreed, closed our tab, and finished eating our food in the benches located right outside (about 20 feet away from where we were sitting) In conclusion, he lost our business for the rest of the night, and all to ensure that the people over there (about 15) wouldn’t feel entitled to bring food from another place during the time their kitchen is closed. We understand his reasoning, and that’s why we asked in the first place if it was OK, so this whole situation could have been avoided if this manager had better communication with...
Read morePlace is big with lots of space. Food was decent with lots of options for everyone. Was told the wait would be 25-30 mins, which turned the couple before us away. When I said we have a party of five they said they could seat us right away. Good for us, but strange communication especially for the people before us.
Service was decent, think the guy was new. When we asked if we could have half our pizza with out tomatoes and onions he responded “I think so.” I asked “you think so?!” He responded with “well, I hope so. They’re back there making it, not me.” This was maybe the strangest and most awkward responses I had ever gotten from a waiter. I said, well if you could talk to your cooks and make sure, that would be great.
Food came out. Apps and small items for the kids. They didn’t love the Mac and cheese. Fries were decent. My chicken BBQ was standard. Wife’s burger was average. Irish Idaho pizza was okay. Wanted to try that, but was a little dry.
When the bill cam there was Tax and then another 18% tax plus. Pius 3% credit card charge. I had to ask and the 18% was gratuity. That’s fine, was going to do 18-22% anyway, but strange they added it on a party of five. Also wasn’t too happy on the credit card 3% charge on principle.
All in all the space was okay, food was okay, but not with the price...
