CP Shuckers Cafe & Raw Bar is a quintessential Virginia Beach spot, offering a lively atmosphere and solid seafood options that make it a go-to for locals and visitors alike. It's a reliable four-star experience for casual dining with a fun, beachy vibe. Whether you visit the Oceanfront or Shore Drive location, you'll find a consistently upbeat environment. The decor is unpretentious and comfortable, perfectly fitting the "cafe and raw bar" designation. It's a great spot to catch a game, enjoy some tunes, or simply soak in the coastal energy. They often have good outdoor patio seating, which is a big plus for enjoying the Virginia Beach weather. The raw bar, as the name suggests, is a highlight. Their oysters are typically fresh and well-shucked, a perfect start to any meal. Beyond that, their menu offers a wide variety of seafood staples. The crab dip is a creamy, flavorful favorite, and their steamed shrimp and various fried platters deliver on classic expectations. They're also known for their wings, which offer a nice alternative if you're not solely in the mood for seafood. Their drink menu is also well-stocked, with a good selection of beers and cocktails to complement the food. Service at CP Shuckers is generally attentive and friendly. The staff is used to a bustling environment and manages to keep things moving smoothly, even during peak hours. You feel well taken care of without it being overly formal. So, why not five stars? While the food is consistently good and satisfying, it doesn't always reach an exceptionally creative or gourmet level. It's comfort seafood and pub fare, done well, but it might not surprise or challenge your palate. Also, the lively atmosphere can sometimes tip into being quite loud, which might not be ideal for those seeking a quiet dinner. Despite these minor points, CP Shuckers Cafe & Raw Bar remains a fantastic choice for a casual, fun meal in Virginia Beach. It's a go-to for fresh raw bar items, well-prepared seafood, and a vibrant atmosphere that perfectly captures the local...
Read moreThe food was great! However, one of the security guards checked the identification of the eight people in our group (six women and two men), then let us in with no problem. The problem started when he asked my friend and myself (the two men), to come back outside to check our IDs again. We were let back in again with no problem. The hostess took us to an area upstairs that could accommodate our party. The problem continued after we ordered appetizers, when he came inside to the upstairs area where we were seated, and proceeded to ask each of us our years of birth, which made us all uncomfortable and uneasy. I then spoke with the manager, a 40-50 something year old caucasian lady; she stated that security has their own discretion as to whom and when they can question a guest about their age, which confused me considering we all provided valid identification and were already granted access to enter the establishment, with two of us providing identification twice. I stated that to her. She then stated that the security guy was of an older age and might have forgotten who we were. She was very dismissive, condescending, and unapologetic. I spoke with her to bring attention to a concern; I didn't ask for anything. In addition, there was another security guy who was clearly inebriated, and kept coming to our table, basically telling us to leave being that it was approaching 1:30 am. We asked him if it was okay for us to wait for our checks. He obliged, yet he continued to return to the table to check on the status of our departure. We spoke with our server, Sam, who advised us that his demand for us to leave was because the upstairs area was soon to be closed, unbeknownst to us, although there were other guests upstairs enjoying their visit seemingly unbothered. She assured us that we were good to stay until the checks came although he continued to return. We paid and promptly departed without a problem....
Read moreIt’s hard give reviews that promote a eclectic experience. Thus this location is in a prime location in Virginia Beach within walking distance from several hotels on Atlantic Ave. The waitress’s were extremely friendly and by no means at fault, for giving me a raw tuna steak. I asked second waitress who I’m assuming is the manager to please ask the cook to cook my tuna steak a little longer due to the fact that it was still extremely raw. She took the plate and came back in less than a minute. Then when I advised her that my tuna steak was still raw she stated “ OMG I can’t believe it I saw him put it on there for a very long time.” It looked like the cook took my plate and put it in a microwave for about 10 seconds. That’s how fast my plate came back to me. Plus my home cook chips (which were amazing while they were hot) became very soggy which suggests that the moisture from bread and tuna made them soggy while being microwaved. Granted I understand that most restaurants are busy but if a cook/ chef receives a returned dish to be cooked a little longer the. he should make sure that the food is cooked a little longer and not give a raw plate back to the consumer. If wanted sushi I would have asked for sushi. With that being stated the cook needs to slow down and make sure that customers do not consume raw food. I did love the Navy SEAL photos, to all active serving SEALS the fallen SEALS (Tango Yankee for your Service) 🔱🇺🇸🔱 and the atmosphere was great. The manager did take off the item off the bill that I did not consume. Would I be back yes would I order the same thing… Negative. But it does make question the cook’ consider for cooking as well as what does the inside of the kitchen actually look like? #BarRescue The photo below is the 2nd time the my food was returned to me, after the cook so called cooked it a...
