Decided to try out Cracker Barrel after seeing multiple signs on the highway advertising the restaurant! I’ve always been intrigued by their menu after a new spot opened up where I used to live, just never got the chance to try them out.
I love the atmosphere once you get inside. We entered through the shop and were greeted with a super cute country store filled with lots of holiday decor and various snacks and candies for sale. We decided to browse around after eating so we made our way to the hostess in order to be seated. They took a little while to come out and bring us to our table but at least they acknowledged the wait and apologized. We didn’t mind that much anyways.
The restaurant is a good size. I imagine they’re busy on weekends but we happened to stop in on a Friday afternoon at an off peak time so there weren’t many customers present.
Our waitress was very attentive once we were seated. She always made sure to come and check in on us. If we needed anything during our visit she was quick to grab it for us.
Now onto the good part: the food. We got a basket with corn muffins and biscuits to start. I believe all tables get them for free. Definitely a staple! I loved their biscuits, I topped mine with a little bit of butter and jam. It was warm, tasty and flaky. The perfect biscuit. Unfortunately the corn muffins tasted a bit bland. Definitely go for the muffins!
Off the menu I ordered the bacon Mac and cheese side and their broccoli cheese casserole. Both were delicious! Very fresh. We did have a 15 minute wait for the broccoli cheese casserole but it was worth it! Definitely something I can see being a hit at holiday get togethers. I’d probably opt out of the bacon topping on the Mac and cheese because it was a bit salty, but the Mac and cheese was good. Very cheesy!
My fiancé ordered one of their seafood platters and said he enjoyed it. Just a lot of food! Probably a meal that can be shared. My brother in law got their catfish, unfortunately he said he didn’t really like it. He stated the flavor was lacking.
Overall I enjoyed the food that I tried and the service was great! Definitely looking forward to trying out more of their menu items. Give them a try if you have upon a Cracker Barrel in your area!
Edit: also forgot to mention we tried their white cheddar cheese bites and they were pretty good! A little...
Read moreThe day before Thanksgiving I walked into Cracker Barrel in the morning and asked if it would be at all possible to order regular menu items for catering for six. The manager on duty told me that it wouldn’t be a problem considering it was regular menu items. My husband and I have been swamped with moving. I placed my order and the manager tells me to come back at six. I arrived at six and kind of figured it would be a little bit of a wait with thanksgiving coming up, so no big deal. On the store side they were offering patrons drinks and be kind and chatty. I paid for the food I ordered around 6:15 and waited. I waited with all of the other folks waiting. Around 7 I requested an update about the food. Around 7:30 I asked if the food would was ready again. Not that it’s Cracker Barrel’s problem, but at home I had left over spaghetti, a bunch of veggies and a watermelon. I thought they had me covered because they had said so that morning. I was there to get something for thanksgiving for my family. I have to unplug my fridge in two days for a move. We don’t live near any family and I am about to move across the country. So I wanted to walk out but didn’t want to be empty handed for thanksgiving. At 8 I requested a refund and the young lady working in the store was embarrassed and frustrated for the customers. The girl kept requesting a manager and they never would show up. I absolutely wasn’t leaving without my money at this point. Finally after I had been in the store for 3 hours someone gave me my money back. At this point they started to bring me random batches of food. At one point I cried because I was frustrated. I left your store at 9:45. I waited for a meal I had my daughter pick out for our thanksgiving(me trying to make this special due to the move) for 3 hours and 45 mins. I was already absolutely exhausted and this happened. One of the young men working on the store side bought me a pie. I tried to decline it but he insisted. I have no clue what on earth happened at the store that made me wait for this meal for so long, but never will I visit this establishment again. Thank you to those kind hearted people who tried their best to make a bad situation better. They are...
Read moreI don't really care to leave negative comments and if its 1 or 2 things that would've bothered me I would let bygones be bygones, but when 5 or 6 things happen it's kinda hard not to think about them. Just before 9pm we arrived at the restaurant and they told us it would be a 5 minute wait before we could be seated, no big deal! They have the store to walk around so that didn't bother me. What did was almost a 20 minute wait and no one came up to us and told us they were still working on a table. We were seated and our young waitress was quite polite and created small pleasant conversation while we ordered. No problem there. I ordered extra chives and tomatoes on my food. We got our drinks and I had to ask for biscuits. I remember coming many times before and they were brought to you with your drinks. When our food came I had no chives or tomatoes but my meal was still yummy so I chose not to say anything and shake a little extra pepper on my eggs. My wife's mashed potatoes were cold and tasted old but the chicken was delicious and she didn't want me to say anything because she also had chicken and dumplings and a side of corn. When we finished our drinks we weren't asked if we wanted a refill because the next time our waitress came we were full and ready for the check. We took our Togo boxes and the check to the counter to pay and the young girl was talking on the phone. I stood for a minute to see if she hung up so we could pay and she kept talking. me and my wife wandered through the store for a few minutes until she had finished her conversation then payed for our food. Overall i love going to cracker barrel for the food and the atmosphere but this time around I left unimpressed and a little disappointed. Maybe we won't go so late in the...
