Arrived in Williams tonight for a mini vacation with my wife and a friend. Wanted to eat steak so we choose this restaurant. We ordered the Rib Eye with Chipotle BBQ rubbed.
We hadn’t eat all day so we started eating quickly and it tasted a bit burned even though it looked very good, my friend asked for a piece and when she ate it she turned the steak around, it looked like a piece of charcoal, by this time we weren’t happy but we were already eating it so fast because we were hungry. My friend said I should ask for another one but I didn’t want deal with confronting them so I just decided to let the waitress know about it, she asked if I wanted another one but I didn’t feel good about having an entire steak and give back 1/3 of what was left. She insisted so I said I will take it to go, then she said I couldn’t but she would let the chef know. When she came back I asked what did the chef say and she hadn’t told him yet. A minute later the chef came and extremely ironic said: “are you the table having problems with the steak? I am not sure because I don’t see anything on your plate” (he said that because we ate 90% of the stake). Then I explained everything to him and again ironically he asked “so do you want a discount?” I said “no” and he goes “do you want a desert on the house?” And again I said “no, I just wanted to let you know”. He ironically thanked again and said it was very important that I letted him know so it didn’t happen to anyone else.
I don’t want or need anything. All I wanted was for the restaurant to know I didn’t enjoy my food. And would never leave a review because the food was bad, the problem was the way the chef treated us. I am a business owner and sometimes we don’t know everything that is going on all the time, this review is so the owner knows what’s going on. Not about the food, neither the environment which was great, loved the atmosphere, was just the...
Read moreI read some reviews prior to arriving that commented on the temperature inside the restaurant but thought, “it’s 74 degrees outside, how bad can it be”? Why do I do these things to myself? It wasn’t as hot as proverbial hell, but it was definitely hell adjacent. Stifling! We were quickly seated, water was brought to the table and a list of out of stock food items were recited. Ordered a beer, out of stock. No problem, ordered a different one. It was delivered eventually and we perused the menu which is interesting… a sort of Mexican flare on otherwise standard American flare. (Poblano mashed potatoes and street corn, nothing exotic) The prices are a bit on the higher side. $46 for a ribeye and two pretentious sides. We didn’t actually eat anything, though, which is unfortunate. The braised collards had my hopes up. But, by the time the server wondered back over to take our order I was sweating like judge was passing sentence and my wife looked one hot flash away from a hostage situation. We asked the staff about moving outside, she was nice enough about it, picked up our bread plates and silverware, my water glass and the now nearly empty water bottle and showed us outside to a dirty picnic table that was “almost in the shade” (direct quote from server) Too late to make a long story short, we paid for my beer, gave the server a fiver and...
Read moreOk, it was warm in there. But I've eaten in hotter places in Mexico, Hong Kong and Vietnam. You just drink enough that it doesn't faze you anymore, problem solved.
Great space, very new and I loved the design. It's definitely not what you'd expect to see in Williams AZ. Brass bar top and lots of dark white oak. Very sexy.
Sat at the bar and Sue took care of us. Cocktails are great, service is solid.
Ordered a bunch of stuff. The ribeye is a home run, amazing flavor, nice cut, cooked perfect and the sides (corn and potatoes) were outstanding. Chicken sandwich was very good, especially with the green chili sauce from the steak. Hush puppies were perfect. My favorite was the catfish, which I have never seen on a menu in AZ outside of Mrs. White's. They do a great job with it, very mild and perfectly prepared.
Chef, Sue and the whole kitchen crew came out with a birthday cake and some nice, loud, embarrassing singing for my wifes birthday- mission accomplished!!!
Great food, great service, great space. Seriously worth the drive for, we're so glad...
