Step into Paul Bunyan's Cook Shanty, and you'll step back in time to an era when hearty lumberjacks fueled up for a day of rugged work in the great outdoors. As our family of hungry lumberjacks entered the restaurant, we couldn't help but be captivated by the immersive ambiance that immediately transported us to a rustic cook shanty deep in the woods.
Seated promptly at our table, we felt like part of a tight-knit crew gearing up for a day of timber-taming. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with the scent of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the air. The worn yet sturdy furniture and the timber-laden decor added to the authenticity of the experience.
And then, without delay, our table was laden with a feast fit for the hungriest of lumberjacks. The spread before us was nothing short of spectacular: platters of piping hot, perfectly cooked sausages that practically begged to be devoured, eggs cooked to golden perfection, and camp-fried potatoes that offered just the right amount of crunch. The donuts, sweet and indulgent, provided a sugary burst of energy that would make even Paul Bunyan himself proud.
But the showstopper had to be the biscuits and gravy. Creamy, rich, and with a hearty texture that warmed our souls, it was a taste of comfort that reminded us of the satisfaction that comes from a hard day's work. And of course, what would a lumberjack's breakfast be without the lifeblood of any early morning endeavor – the robust and invigorating coffee that flowed freely, just like the camaraderie in a close-knit logging crew.
As we dug into our hearty meal, we couldn't help but imagine ourselves amongst the tall trees and rough terrain, preparing to conquer the challenges of the wilderness. The flavours were genuine, robust, and true to the spirit of those who worked tirelessly to shape our forests. The cooks at Paul Bunyan's Cook Shanty had clearly mastered the art of capturing that essence on every plate.
Leaving the shanty, our bellies were full, our spirits were high, and we were ready to tackle whatever challenges lay ahead. Paul Bunyan's Cook Shanty isn't just a restaurant; it's an immersive journey into the heart of lumberjack culture, where fantastic food and an unforgettable atmosphere combine to create an experience that would make even the mightiest of lumberjacks tip their hats in approval. If you're looking for more than just a meal – if you're seeking a taste of history and a bellyful of hearty goodness – then this is the...
Read moreFood wasnt bad. Pretty straight up. No bacon, but plenty of sausage and ham. The server was cool, shout out to her cause she did pretty good. The part that left a bad taste in my mouth was the gift shop. It was a white lady as manager, and a few hispanic girls who worked with her. I was checking out with one of the Hispanic girls, and she was very nice but you could tell that she obviously does not understand english very well outside of basic words. No problem, i dont mind. I had two necklaces, but i couldnt decide which one i wanted, so i called my mom and we decided on a necklace, i told her which one i wanted, and i had assumed she put it in the system once i had told her. I went to put it in the bag and she stopped me. I figured she just hadnt put it in the system yet so i handed it back to her, and as i did i accidentally dropped a cannister of doughnuts. It was the clearance ones, but they were conveniently in the way of checkout. They fell on the floor, and the lady told me i had to pay for them too. And then the manager walks over, and attemps to crack a joke with me saying “well atleast it was only the clearance” but i didnt find it very funny because i was the one paying. I told her that they need to be moved, and i walk out. Well, here to find out, the lady checking me out who did not speak english, had stuck BOTH necklaces in there, when i had very obviously and very clearly told her i wanted one. The necklaces were about 10 dollars each, and the doughnuts were about 3-5 dollars. Im not mad about the 15 dollars down the drain because im not broke, but i was extremely unimpressed by the customer service and the manager. I work at a nail salon with ladies who mostly speak vietnamese and very little English, and its common courtesy to help out and take over when you see things going wrong with one of the ladies who speaks little english. You dont ever make someone blunder around, especially when they are handling customers. Why the manager would make that poor girl sit there while we were very clearly having a hard time is beyond me. Its not her fault she doesnt understand, but then the people around her need to be making sure they are helping out, especially when there is problems...
Read morePeople of color beware of this place. I was there today and had breakfast. Everything was going well until it was time to leave. As I was leaving out, I saw a 50% off rack of clothes. I love a deal, so I looked at what they had. I found a sweatshirt and didn't see a price on it. I went immediately to the front counter to get the price. The lady found the tag on the inside of the shirt with the price, and it had a 50% off sticker. I was like great and took the shirt back because I wanted to look around the store for some more items to purchase. After not finding anything, I went back up to purchase the sweatshirt. Another girl rang it up but didn't give me the 50% off. I made her aware, and she asked the first lady that had given me the price of the shirt, how to do the 50% off. This lady said it's not 50% off. I asked why the 50% tag was on it. She said someone must have put it on there. She said it a couple more times as if I did it. She then peeled off the sticker. I asked her why did she do that and made them aware of the wisconsin state law for sales. I made her aware of where I got the shirt from, as well. She proceeded to go and get the "manager." When the manager came back up with the first lady, she came to the sweatshirt and proceeded to peel off the sticker. The manager then stated that it wasn't on sale because the sticker shouldn't be so easy to peel off. At this time, I am super annoyed and upset because I feel like they are trying to accuse me of putting the sticker on there. My friend told her the first lady had just peeled it off. She said she wasn't giving me the sweatshirt for the price because they didn't have any sweatshirts on sale. I asked the manager for her name, and she said she wasn't giving me her name. I definitely feel as though they were saying I put the sticker on the shirt and treated me the way they did because I'm AA. There were a few other sweatshirts on the rack, but they were a different style. Do not waste your money at this racist establishment. I am livid and will NEVER spend my money in this...
