I was present tonight as one of the "peculiar" people allegedly staring at the previous reviewer and I would like to put some things into context regarding them being turned away. This is a small family run restaurant who can seat about 25 people, prior to Chloe asking for a table the restaurant had just seated a group party of 16 people and they also had other customers seated. They were turning people away as they could not guarantee that other people would not have to wait a long time due to this large party. Enough about the negative stuff about this great place. My wife and I have travelled around the world for many years and have never eaten in the same place more than twice. We have revisited this restaurant on 4 occasions (our whole stay in Hoi An) as we found the food, service and owners to be excellent. They have such a varied menu which gave us chance to experience 8 different dishes and styles of food. The quality of the food is excellent and very good value for money and I would not hesitate to recommend this resturant. Please take time to read all the good reviews which show it it its true light rather than one unfortunate incident that resulted in a...
Read moreLovely place, super good food! The tender lady is lovely and we had probably the best meal since in Vietnam. Local Hoi An food has been a nice finding (try white roses and mixed starters!) and the rest of the courses were super good too. They can also cook western food (if you want), but I’d really recommend their own speciality. The lady exchanged also some personal concern tonight as she received a negative review while we were there: pictures of the food provided in that review were clearly not hers and she cried while explaining how much a single negative review can impact her, that she is devoted to the restaurant and makes her best, that she doesn’t cook those dishes reported, etc. It might just have been a mistake, but please consider how this is impacting others’ jobs and lives.
We really recommend this place, for the food. And for the kindness of the people making it working. Last but not least: super cheap compared with the quality.
Co siamo tornati ancora per la nostra ultima cena in Vietnam: la gentilezza e la cortesia sono impareggiabili e il cibo anche. Con l’offerta infinita che c’è ad Hoi An, essere tornato significa davvero che ne...
Read moreThis was the best all-round dining experience in Vietnam, with friendly, sympathetic, and relaxed staff, a great vacation-like atmosphere, and awesome food. We coincidentally ended up here while looking for the Secret Garden, but instead found this restaurant called The Silent Garden.
We had a perfect start with tasty cocktails and mocktails. We ordered the dishes highlighted in red, figuring these would be the specialties. Highly recommended are the pork curry and the fried catfish.
This was the first restaurant after twelve days in Vietnam where we felt like ordering dessert — and boy, was that a good call. Every single dessert was spot on, especially the fried banana, but also the coconut ice cream and the Vietnamese-style crème brûlée.
The restaurant seemed to be popular with other Europeans, even though it’s a bit removed from the centre and not mentioned in any guidebooks.
Our 1.2 km walk back to the city in the rain was worth all the trouble. We even feel like going back...
