There aren't enough stars to show how amazing this place is. It is the right fit for the right type of person: someone interested in creating community by eating, playing, and contributing to something bigger than yourself...together. The family of people striving to ensure we were well cared for and had the ultimate experience in Hoi An were some of the brightest humans I have ever encountered. We moved here after 3 nights at a different hostel in town. We were there for only 6 nights and it felt like we had all been friends for a lifetime already. Our time in Hoi An would have been such a different experience if we hadn't been at Love.Ly. As travelers came and went over our time, we were excited to meet/greet/welcome and so honored to have shared a meal, a game, or a meaningful conversation - - -or all of it, all at once. The sounds of laughter and the positive energy that imbues this place is unparalleled.||The family of people putting their energy into making this a special experience for each and every one of us was so special. We played games, everyone checked in on each other, people genuinely cared about each other. Ly, Hoi, Xchen (sp?), mama, and papa go above and far beyond my wildest expectations of what people who run a hostel do and how I would be treated as a guest. They are the DEFiNITON of hosts - - - and we even had an evening of learning Vietnamese!!! ||The breakfast choices were made to order. We had beer on game nights. The family dinners were incredibly fresh and delicious. They knew my dietary restrictions and I didn't even have to ask for modifications by the end of my stay, Ly's dad would have my morning meal ready for me! ||We could walk to many of the local attractions and when we needed bikes/transportation, they were really quick to make sure we had what we needed. Even when they forgot, they made sure we got where we needed to be expeditiously!!!! ||Everyone was looking out for each other and ensuring that we were wise and safe. Upon arrival, the welcoming team make sure that we know where to go and what to look out for. The door has a key pad and all of the rooms lock. There are also lockers under every bed. ||It was love.ly* to not be in bunkbeds for a change and to have the entire underside of the bed for all of our belongings. ** see what I did there?? ha ha||The best local food and drinks are within mere blocks of the hostel. Close to anything and everything you would do in Hoi An on foot and renting a bike to get out of the town is easy as can be with such responsive people working at the hostel. And trust....they have many "insider" recommendations that literally take you off the...
Read moreWe loved the hostel, the people, the location and the breakfast. The place is exceptionally clean and the showers are always hot. The dorm beds have curtains which is not featured in the photos of the hostel and this was a big plus for us.
We would have given 10/10 rating, however at the end of our stay, when wanting to get a bus to Da Lat we were given false information purposely and dislike dishonesty from hostels in order to make more money out of guests. The hostel offers many bus and day trips and activities at significantly higher costs like other hostels do (we always do our activities directly with the provider as a result). Hostels are normally open about this which is fair enough.
The hostel offers a bus to Dalat for 540,000 VND, however we found the futa bus website offers this service for 340,000. The bus can be booked online and the company will organise free pick up from Hoi An (however the names of pick up were in Vietnamese and different on Google maps and so we need clarification of where the pick up address was). Upon discussing this with the hostel and asking where the pick up was (as both their Vietnamese and English is perfect), the hostel told us that the FUTA bus was not the best option as they drive recklessly, meaning we could get sick, and instead their bus would be better suited. They didn't inform us that free pick-up from futa was the norm and that every bus that goes (including the one they sell tickets for) is the exact same company and bus (FUTA bus). They pretended to be unfamiliar with the company and the process in order to charge an extra 200'000 VND per person to book the same bus. We booked directly with FUTA bus, walked 5 mins from the hostel to the pick up location (FUTA call to inform you or you call them) and minutes later were greeted with fellow people from our hostel who took a 2 minute taxi from our hostel who paid almost double the price. We felt disappointed that the hostel had lied to us to try make money from us, when we had felt our interactions at the hostel had been warm and genuine. A hostel host should be trying to help guests and give them accurate information to allow them to enjoy their traveling to the fullest, not lie and see them as a money making opportunity. There is a stand Alone travel agent on the same street who even sells the same ticket's for $4 dollars less than this hostel showing how high the...
Read moreHoi An Love.Ly Hostel is a charming and cozy spot that offers a great experience for travelers looking for comfort without breaking the bank. The hostel has a modern, clean aesthetic with warm, inviting tones that make it feel like a home away from home. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and helpful advice on things to do in Hoi An.
The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained, with clean bedding and decent-sized lockers for your belongings. While the dorms are a bit compact, they’re still perfectly functional for a short stay. The air-conditioning is a huge plus, keeping things cool after a day in the heat. My only minor complaint would be that some of the bathrooms could use a little updating, but they are still clean and have everything you need.
What sets Hoi An Love.Ly Hostel apart is its vibrant social atmosphere. The common areas, including the lounge and bar, are great for meeting fellow travelers. They often host social events, making it easy to connect with others. The free breakfast is a nice touch, offering a variety of options to start your day off right.
The location is also very convenient, with just a short walk to the center of Hoi An and all of its attractions. The hostel offers free bicycles to use, which is a fun and convenient way to explore the town and nearby areas. Hoi An’s beautiful beaches are just a short ride away, making it easy to enjoy both the historical center and the coastal views.
Overall, Hoi An Love.Ly Hostel is a wonderful place to stay for budget travelers seeking a friendly and social atmosphere. The clean rooms, great location, and helpful staff make it a solid choice for anyone visiting Hoi An. While there are a few small areas for improvement, it’s definitely a place I’d recommend and would happily...
