This review is a few years late, but the experience was so memorable that itās stayed with us ever since. My husband and I had taken the Boston Duck Tour many years ago, before we had kids, and we remembered it as such a fun and unique way to see the city. When we eventually had the chance to go back with our children, we were excited to share that experience with themāand it turned out to be even more special than we had hoped.
From the moment we boarded, everything was just as lively and entertaining as we remembered. The guide was engaging, knowledgeable, and full of humor, making the tour fun for both adults and kids. It struck a perfect balance between history and entertainment, keeping our whole family interested and laughing the entire time. Even having done the tour before, we found ourselves learning new things and seeing the city from a fresh perspective.
The most unforgettable partāand what truly made the day magicalāwas when the guide invited our daughters to drive the duck once we were on the water. Their excitement was palpable, and seeing the joy on their faces was something Iāll never forget. That small but generous gesture turned an already great day into one of those cherished family memories that stays with you for a lifetime.
Weāre so grateful to the team at Boston Duck Tours for making our visit so special. It was more than just sightseeingāit was a meaningful, joy-filled experience that brought our family closer together. Even years later, we still talk about it. If youāre visiting Boston, especially with kids, I canāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe concept was nice. I was looking forward to seeing the sights and hearing about them. Our tour guide seemed knowledgeable and tried to make it fun. He allowed our tour too quack when he said a word. People on the tour bus took it too far and would quack as loud as they could making it impossible to hear anything. I am not talking about just a few quacks but as loud as you can, deafening quacking the whole entire tour. I appreciate the fun he tried to bring but as a tour guide I wished he would have reined it in a bit. I also felt I paid more for him to be a comedian than to actually tell me about Boston. He also only talked to people in front. He also asked where I was from and when I told him he made the comment that his daughter hated it and would never go back. Felt a little put off by that when he was commenting so nicely on the places where everyone else was from. Then had the audacity to ask for a tip at the end. There was no point for us to actually go in the river as he didnāt he speak about it at all and it was to let the obnoxious quacking kids drive. Worse time of my life. All in all it was way over priced to hear obnoxious kids quacking till you are deaf and a wanna be comedian who hates where I live. Upon walking Boston I heard other duck tours ask their tour to only quack when asked or that there are no quack zones. That would have been nice. Freedom walking tour was 100...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe took the Duck Boat tour and the Cityview hop on/off trolley. The Duck Boat tour was far better than the Cityview trolley. The Duck Boat has a driver and a tour guide. We heard far more information, got to go on the water, and had a better time compared to the hop on/off trolley.
If I go to boston again with anyone who had never been, I'd do the Duck Boat tour first thing. Then use the city busses and subway to travel around the city. The hop on/off tour only had the driver to drive and tell about the history. One driver on the Cityview hop on/off trolley kept telling people to stop talking so she could tell a story. Nobody was loud and we could still hear her. She made me want to just get off and wait for another driver, but it was too hot to wait 20 to 30 for the next trolley.
The Duck Boat tour is a must for anyone visiting Boston. Do it first and then travel the city by bus and subway. You can get a Chalrie Card for $22 for a 7 day pass or around $11 for a single day. But them at the subway stations. The Charlie Card gives you unlimited bus and subway rides. The public transportation was easy to use, clean, and had several employees around to ask questions at the subway stops. We took a bus to Salem for a day and it was only 35 minutes from our hotel in Revere (the Avid hotel was great at a...
