Snorkeling & Shelling Destin — Attraction in Destin

As advertised we did two stops one snorkeling one shell collecting so meeting the mark I gave 2 stars. The first stop was about 1hr 30min the second was about 20 min. Where we begin to loose some credibility points was when I realized we were being taken out to the east jetty where anyone could easily park and walk out to for our snorkeling portion. The second stop was Eglins beach access on the bay side. So not worth the 60 a person we paid there for sure. It would have been fine and probably would gave it more stars because the checkin was easy and the deckhand recently from St Thomas was very helpful. However, we were briefed that going on the other side of the jetty at stop one was ok which is where my son and I went to get away from the crowd. When we heard 3 horn blasts from our boat we climbed over and were walking to the boat when the captain started yelling for us to “hurry up” and waiving his arms.

Not an normally an issue if: We weren’t already walking straight at the boat which he clearly saw us doing. If we were maybe the last people not on board (at that time there were still about 15 people lined up in 3ft of water waiting to board). 3.if we were your dogs, kids, or an employee. We paid good money to take a trip to spots that barely burnt any fuel and can be reached by foot. You don’t own your customers and if they are complying with the pre briefed procedures you don’t need to yell at us. If you wanted your customers to get in the boat earlier sound the horn earlier don’t treat them like they owe you a beach run to...

We had a great time with James & Matt after we finally got on the boat. The adventure was perfect. We saw sharks on the way out, we snorkeled & then went to another location for shell hunting &found some beautiful shells. I just wish the beginning of the excursion wouldn't been as nice. We got a call the morning of our planned trip out to snorkel to say they didn't have enough people so they were going to cancel our trip & rebook us for the following day. We already had other things booked so I was put on hold & then told that the excursion would still happen but on a smaller boat...perfectly fine with us! Except when we got there 30 mins before our excursion, we were told the boat left already with the other guests on it because in the computer, it showed us as canceled. So we drove 30 mins to the place only to be told we no longer had a snorkeling trip again. Then we were offered an excursion the following day but at 8 am when we had other things to do. We were finally squeezed in to an 1130 trip the following day & drove the 30 mins back to our hotel... only to do it all again the following day. Luckily for us, James & Matt saved the whole trip for us & we had an absolutely great time. My only suggestion would be to call them before you head there to make sure you have a...

Super fun snorkeling out at the jetties - mostly shallow so this is a great place for everyone, BUT I would recommend if you can't swim wearing a life jacket because there are some deeper spots. The guide said there were sea turtles down about 30' if you could dive down but I didn't want to try that on my own. Still lots of pretty fish to see. Also, I had JUST as much fun shelling on the island. Absolutely loved it. I could have stayed for hours. We saw some dolphins in the bay which was a bonus!! Guide was super friendly! We had a lot of fun and would do it again. This is the second time I've booked with Pelican - went parasailing with them several years ago....
