We stayed at the courtyard for two nights - it was a weekend getaway with the kids for spring break. The hotel itself is very pretty, as you would expect a newer hotel to be. Everything clean and for the most part in working order. The first night we could hear the person in the room next to us snoring as if s/he were int he room with us. It was amazingly loud. By midnight I had called down to the front desk to see if we could switch rooms, but no one was answering the phone. I was upset about that, but in the end I guess it worked out because we were able to fall asleep and the snoring wasn't a problem the next night. The second night we did hear a TON of foot traffic in the room above us which was pretty much as loud as the snoring the previous night. So take that for what it's worth. Is it enough for me to say I won't stay there again, maybe not. But as the hotel ages and is less "shiny and new" perhaps the noise levels will be a definite hindrance.
The staff were very, very nice. However they didn't always perform up to expectations. No information about pool packages and tickets when we inquired the first day, no offer to follow up and get information to us later. Breakfast egg sandwich that cost $7 was brought to my table cold and mostly inedible. Just the little things. Though I do believe the staff was trying their best, always had a smile and very nice. It just fell short sometimes. Overall, not terrible.
The pool was small, but adequate to keep my kids entertained. It does get crowded if more than three adults want to use the jacuzzi.
Workout room has great treadmills and an elliptical machine in great working order. I did have to clean up towels, wrappers, cups, etc... myself after other people who used the facilities in both the pool and the workout room.
Our bathroom door always closed so you could not leave it open to vent the steam after a shower. Just a small inconvenience.
Note: The lounge/restaurant/bar is not open all night. Open in the morning for breakfast and open at night from 5-9 only. We didn't know that and were hoping to go down for drinks in the evening, but 9am is a bit too early for us to head down.
The beds were extremely comfortable, wish my own beds at home were as nice! Lots of easy access shopping (Target and Vitamin Cottage, coffee, bakery, restaurants, etc...) in walking distance if needed. Great for when you forget towels and sunscreen for the hot springs like we did!
In room coffee and fridge. No microwave - but there is one in the lobby you can use if needed. NO HAIRDRYER - this can be big. I'm glad I read a review that mentioned it because the hotel's website does not list room amenities thoroughly. I need a dryer and was glad to know in advance I'd need to pack my own. We got the more spacious double rooms and had ample space for our family.
Overall I'd rate this hotel as a very good choice. Just go in knowing the shortcomings and you won't be...
Read moreThe first (primary) reason I am displeased with this stay is that the hotel buried additional costs that were not clearly disclosed up front and should have been added to my prepaid room. Instead, Marriott didn't clearly disclose the additional costs until I arrived for my (prepaid) stay.
I specifically booked this room two months early NON-REFUNDABLE and PREPAID in order to lock in what 'appeared' to be a competitive price. When I got to the hotel for my stay, I discovered additional fees that I had to pay for no clear reason. The staff would not wave them nor adequately explain why they were even necessary. They were NOT clearly disclosed when I committed to this purchase, and it's obvious the hotel owner buried these costs to make the room appear cheaper than it really was.
The room was dirty, not properly stocked, and there was no maid service, so everything we needed had to be obtained from the front desk, which also wasn't properly staffed. On several occasions we waited in excess of 10 minutes for the single person at the front desk to appear (or finish with backed-up guests ahead of us) in order to obtain simple items like towels. They did not provide soaps/shampoos/etc. in the room - there were only dispensers in the shower, two of which were empty when we arrived.
It appeared to us as well that there was the possible presence of bed bugs. Both beds had little blood spots on the sheets at the base of the mattresses, which is a sign that the bedsheets had an one point been infested with some sort of parasitic insect. We requested a change of sheets, but had to obtain them directly from the maid cart in the hallway, and replaced them ourselves.
Had I known the low quality of this stay, remoteness of the property from the town center, and the hidden fees that weren't properly disclosed when I paid for room two months ahead of my stay, I would have booked elsewhere. In fact, I am so displeased with this Marriott stay that I am in the process of canceling another reservation I have made at another Bonvoy property. This has spoiled my experience with Marriott - its indicative that the parent company does not pay close enough attention to the mismanagement of a property. This is bolstered by the fact that we followed up with a look at other reviews of the hotel on Yelp! (unfortunately AFTER our stay, not before) and discovered many of the same 1-star ratings and complaints that we made about this hotel....
Read moreIn my sojourn at the Glenwood Courtyard Marriott during the bygone week, I find myself compelled to articulate a laudatory discourse. The consummate excellence of this establishment resides, in no small measure, in the remarkable amicability and efficacy of its staff, coupled with the pristine orderliness and well-provisioned nature of the accommodations.
The symphony of hospitality orchestrated by the hotel staff resonates with a harmonious blend of affability and professionalism. The pristine state of the rooms, immaculately maintained and thoughtfully stocked, attests to an unwavering commitment to guest satisfaction. This, in essence, constitutes an empyreal haven within the confines of the Marriott enclave.
However, as the discerning sojourner delves into the tapestry of amenities, a note of nuance arises in the form of the downstairs lobby bistro. While the culinary offerings therein may be characterized as rudimentary, denuded of embellishments, they boast a virtue in their fundamental freshness. The fare, while bereft of ostentation, emerges as a straightforward repast, devoid of frills yet attesting to a commendable commitment to culinary integrity.
Akin to the hotel staff, the bistro personnel embody a congenial and personable demeanor, imparting a convivial ambiance to the dining experience. It is within this amalgamation of simplicity and warmth that the bistro distinguishes itself, even as it invites contemplation on the potential for culinary refinement.
In the ultimate estimation, my sojourn at the Glenwood Courtyard Marriott has left an indelible impression, and I harbor a readiness to revisit this haven of hospitality. The multifaceted allure, encompassing the cordiality of the staff and the meticulous curation of the accommodations, renders this sojourn a literary narrative of commendation, inviting prospective guests to partake in the refined tapestry of experiences woven within its...
