The confirmation email for the Seattle location mentioned "storing your belongings in a locker," but we arrived and were informed that there were no lockers. While items could be carried into the experience with us, drinks were not allowed, so it was suggested by desk staff for me to leave my bottled soda in the lobby on a shelf. When the experience was complete, the drink had already been removed by staff and discarded.
The players can hold up a paddle to receive clues. We never held up the paddle, but were offered clues. We elected to receive a clue, and the cluegiver Sunny continued to offer clues throughout the experience with us never holding up the paddle. If it were only me playing, I would never have elected to receive a clue, and I would have preferred to not be continually offered clues without holding up the paddle. But this is because I enjoy solving puzzles all on my own. Admittedly, I don't think that I would have solved even one puzzle in this Hard Escape Room of Puppeteer's Workshop before time was up! I still think that I would have enjoyed the experience the same without solving anything, but again this is just me. The birthday person who wished to have our group go here felt that the experience was worth the price, and they had fun
Two of our attendees arrived late, and it was nice that we were allowed to start the experience without them. Our presenter, Mindy, did a great job of explaining the scenario. While I am not a puzzle-solving fan (I hate them for the most part since I usually can't solve them and won't look up answers or receive hints), I did enjoy this experience and would consider going again sometime for the right storyline.
In the past, I have played True Dungeon at PAX West, and I enjoyed that more due to the live performers. It was a pricier experience since I had to pay for PAX West in order to then pay for True Dungeon, but for me the setting and live performances of it provided more bang...
Read moreFirstly, we walked in the door and were immediately greeted by Mo who was a delight and vibed with us immediately! The lounge is amazing and full of puzzles. My friends and I had booked 3 of 4 rooms, but after listening to Mo, we just had to book the last one too--and they did not exaggerate at all! The Seattle room is amazing!! Darius was our game master in 3 of 4 rooms and did a fantastic job of making a character voice and keeping the clues light enough but clear enough that my friends could figure out what to do next. Holly was the Game master for the third room we did and was a trooper in figuring out how to help us as well!! (We just so happen to have a hard time in Eventide Blue, though Holly reassured us that it's just a tough room.
My favorite room was the puppeteer workshop cause I just...you just have to see it. The puzzles are fun, the room has a variety of dolls instead of just the stereotypical baby dolls of horror puppets. THIS ONE IS GREAT. IF YOU CAN ONLY DO ONE DO THIS ONE, BUT I HAVE TO RECOMMEND ALL OF THEM
Seattle one is also fantastic!! Very cool set design, elaborate but intuitive puzzles in it, just amazing. And I'm a sucker for a storyline!
Eventide blue was the hardest for our friend group, it's very much set up like a video game to me. As long as you keep track of what clues you've used and what you haven't, you'll be fine. Same compliment as all the rest, the set is amazing, the GM was amazing, and I was just a great room.
The Temple was my least favorite because there is sound stuff, but once we were done with that puzzle and the sound left, we did much better. the set is really cool just like all of them were and I'd still recommend it since it was still a fun experience (though if you get overstimulated by repetition in noise, be aware!)
All in all a wonderful experience and I'm so glad we went to puzzle break for...
Read moreMy group did the puppeteer room and the design and props were really cool! Really enjoyed the overall aesthetic of the room and theme. However, Mason was pretty abrasive to our group which killed the mood. We were 15 minutes early, but they didn’t have our room ready until our start time (totally fine!). However once we got in the room we were told to hurry up because they needed to start on time (hello, not our fault you didn’t have the room ready on time) given the worlds fastest explanation & story line in a monotone voice, told to pay attention when someone made a whispered side comment out of excitement. Please remember people come here to have fun and be excited and allow them to feel that upon entering. One quick comment does not merit getting snapped at. Everyone in the group felt the whole intro experience was very rude. The room was marketed as hard difficulty, but it was one of the easiest rooms we’ve been done. Jack was our GM and very sweet but gave clues too quickly — would much preferred they gave us a couple minutes to look and think as a group. Just some feedback. Would try their “expert” level room to see how...
