A Boutique Hotel can generally be judged on just two things as they don't tend to have lots of facilities. The room and the breakfast /food. The room was pleasant enough, we were on the first floor which the receptionist offered to change when she saw my elderly mother. The stairs would be a challenge for less able people, most of the rooms you will have to climb to also the breakfast room you will need to climb down to. The room (7) had two single beds pushed together, although we had requested in our booking that these be separated, this took me a couple of minutes to sort. The bathroom was spacious, plenty of hot water but shower hose set too low above the bath to be of any use. The other thing we noted each time we entered the room it stunk of stale garlic. We were only staying a night otherwise it would have been a problem. The beds were comfortable. The TV although advertised satellite channels had nothing in English this seems typical so bare in mind. We had a 20% for a local restaurant which was useful although the price was already reasonable so I didn't take advantage of it but bear in mind pretty much every restaurant in Cesky Krumlov stopped taking reservations at 9pm. Back to the hotel. The breakfast was OK, a decent cover machine, a domestic toaster so this was slow, it was a European style buffet and some scrambled eggs. The restaurant could have been made better with a couple of simple alterations. There was no sense to the lay out. The hot water should have been next to the coffee machine along with the tea bags. Instead both were situated next to the cheesiest and in fact the nozzle for the hot water was over a tray of cheeses. The butter and condiments should have been next to the cheese. The price seems to vary greatly for the hotel we paid £54 for one night December 26th. I would not pay...
Read moreWe booked a little vacation to Prague and decided to have one night in Cesky. Recommend to visit this small village but please choose another hotel. We booked this one for the breakfast. The breakfast looked bad. The cheese and meat were warm, the scrambled eggs and sausages were cold. Also most of the things were already empty. We asked to renew it but they just took a look and said; there is still something left... (breakfast was till 10:00 and it was 9:00) also the tea and coffee were cold but she said it was fine.. after asking for several times they just renewed the tea. In the end we ate a small breakfast with things that looked okay. This was a bad decision... got food poising from this terrible breakfast. I had to spend the rest of the days inside our hotel room in Prague... ||||In regarding to the room, the room was fine but the space between the bathtub and the roof is max 1,3 meter. The shower is in the bath tub. So you have to sit while showering. I don’t really mind this but it’s good to know while you book. We had a room on the second floor, so this is probably different on the...
Read moreAnother "boutique hotel", a category of hotel which I should have learned by now to stay away from. Alas, I did not this time which was unfortunate. "Boutique" seems to mean "no service" at this place.
The positive: good, central location. We stayed in the Odysseus room, their biggest that had a nice terrace and a large bathroom with a bathtub only to shower in.
The negative: stuffy room with a rank smell and it was also a HOT room as no A/C and only a noisy fan was provided (that we had replaced after the first night). Breakfast was served in the basement and was very basic. To enjoy it in the garden, it was quite a bit of a walk. The reception was officially only manned in the mornings between 8-12, but I went down at 11 one day and noone was there. We didn't get our room cleaned since my partner had a meeting from 10-12 and apparently, no cleaning takes place after noon (?!). If you arrive by car, be prepared to park quite far away and pay quite a bit for parking.
I am certain there are much better alternatives to stay at for a lesser...
