Extremely disappointed with the service of the hotel this time round. I have stayed here before back in 2015. Was booking a last minute trip to prague, alot of places were not available, came across this hotel and remembered staying here before and it being good, so I booked it for 1 night.
Unfortunately, I came down with a high fever, flu, cough and bad stomach. The next morning (day of checkout) after breakfast, I badly needed extra toilet roll and tissue box. So I went to the housekeeping on the 3rd floor and asked for tissues, this mother and daughter were pretty friendly and passed me 2 toilet rolls( I only asked for 1) and a tissue box. Mind you, the tissue box in my room when I checked in was not full, rather it was not a new box. It had just a few pieces left which obviously would not suffice for my condition. I wish I had the energy to go out to a shop and get extra tissues, the only thing my bf did the night before was to run to the pharmacy to get medicines for me.
Prior to checking out I really needed water to take my medicines right after I got into the car, of course when you're sick, you drinks lots of water, there are only 2 bottles given in the room and I know this is common in many hotels unless it's a 5 star hotel you can ask as many as you want. However I tried to go back to the housekeeping room to ask, the young housekeeping girl said politely using online translating app, only 2 bottles per room are given.
I went down to the reception, spoke to the young girl seated at the reception, who is really a sweetheart with a kind heart. God bless her for her kindness. I told her " I am sorry but I am really sick and I understand only 2 bottles of water per room are given but is there any chance I could get extra water. She said "no problem, do you want 1 or 2", so I said "2", she went up for me to take me the bottles.
While she went away, I was waiting near the reception, coughing sneezing feeling absolutely weak, the housekeeping middle aged lady happened to be on the 1st floor together with her daughter that I asked water from. So the daughter tells the mom something, the mom comes out to literally stare at me (while I was sneezing and coughing). And when the young receptionist girl came down with the bottles of water, literally the mother and the daughter (housekeepers), started gossiping and saying things about me right in front of me in czech language to the receptionist girl and another lady (maybe it's the manager). They were pointing at me, talking in an angry way and creating a big fuss and saying 'papir' which means paper, talking about the extra toilet paper and tissue box I asked and i believe talking about the extra water I asked for.
This is EXTREMELY DISGUSTING. Talking and gossiping about your hotel guest right in front of them. Especially when I'm sick. Zero sympathy and empathy. I shouted out to the receptionist girl who is the only kind one, "I can pay if you want me to, it's really not a big deal since they're making such a big fuss", and the receptionist girl said no it's fine.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Never staying in this hotel again and NOT RECOMMENDING THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE. You should never ever talk about your customers in front of them. And satisfying the needs and wants of your customers should be of top most priority in the hospitality line. In the event you can't fulfill your customers needs, there's a way to put it. Not by talking about them in your own language and degrading them.
But I want to note again that the young receptionist girl's service, communication was amazing and she was extremely kind to me, I wish I knew her name so that I could mention it. But thanks to her for...
Read moreOur experience with this hotel was not a good one despite the high score it got from the reviews. The main problems: we could not sleep because of the noise, we got a room at the first floor, facing the main street, a street with cobblestone and a tram line. A lot of noise from the cars and the tram passing on the cobblestone. The windows were old wooden windows, you could hear everything through them, it was like sleeping on the street. We used earplugs but it was still not sufficient. When the vehicles were passing on that cobblestone the whole bed and walls were shaking; the place was dirty and worn off, it is visible from the pictures i uploaded: dirty beedsheets and towels, dirty walls, the toilet had dried spots of urine on it, the curtain was torn, the sink broken, and the creepiest thing of all: the bed was full of hair and even under and in between the bedsheets there were thick long hairs (you can see in the picture I put, the hair was visible through the sheets); the shower did not actually have a shower you could take in your hand, just the one mounted in the ceiling. It is difficult to wash yourself only with that one; the room was so small that we did not even have space to put the second luggage; breakfast consists of: scrambled and hard boiled eggs, sauteed vegetables, beans, cheeses of different kinds, salami, fried bacon and sausages, olives and some vegetables, sweets (doughnuts, waffles, cereals, jams, croissants), bread, coffee, tea juice. The food was ok, except the pastries and breads which were dried. However it is exactly the same menu every day.
Some positives for which we give 2 stars and not just one: the room was warm which was a plus since outside the weather was very cold; for us the location was ok because we wanted to stay in Mala Strana and we liked the neighborhood, it is safe and romantic but it is quite far from the old city center (20 mins walk), there are better options closer to the center; the lady at the reception helped us store the luggage in the locker room as we arrived earlier and the room...
Read moreRoom had suffered from some rather drastic modifications to give it an en-suite, leaving it with the spaciousness of a railway carriage, & I couldn't help but think it would've been best left with a corridor bathroom.
The apparent absence of any plug sockets from the room I managed to resolve upon discovering that one socket served both the television and the bedside lamp, implying the presence of an extension lead.
There was no big light in the room, it only having 2 plug-in lamps, the aforementioned and a second at the other end of the internal corridor, which upon my arrival I found had been unplugged, presumably by the cleaning lady in order to plug the vacuum cleaner in.
It was very noisy in my room when I arrived, & I soon identified the cause. The windows in this hotel have old-fashioned double glazing, essentially 2 windows in one, found in many Prague buildings next to busy roads (I used to live in this city), & usually very effective against traffic noise, but it requires both sets of casements to be properly closed. On one window, the outer casement had been left ajar. On another, the upper casement was unable to be closed and requires sanding, maintenance to be notified.
Breakfast: a good & varied spread. Many jams, cheeses, sweetmeats, cooked meats, fruits &c., but not much in the way of bread to put them on. The rohlíky and Kaiserbrötchen(-chen? They were tiny) didn't seem genuine; they were both the same type of bread, a type with a very chewy consistency, impossible to cut with a knife. This hotel doesn't have orange juice; it has orange squash, concentrated for service from a dilution machine that is like a KFC soda fountain only it doesn't supercharge your...
