A fine hotel within walking distance to Prague's Old Town and Prague Castle. The rooms and the overall condition of the hotel are impeccable. The beds were great, I slept like a log. The rooms were a bit overheated, but it could be compensated by opening the window.
The hotel has an underground garage that should definitely be reserved in advance. The prices are average for Prague. The breakfast room is a bit small, but the breakfast itself leaves nothing to be desired: from all kinds of sweets to hearty options (sausages, scrambled eggs, baked beans) and classic cold cuts, bread, and rolls, everything is included. The service staff (with one exception, see below) were all top-notch. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast room staff were efficient, and the housekeeping staff were thorough and friendly. Only the bar disappointed me. We were there for four days, and the bar only opened in the evenings. I would have loved to enjoy a freshly tapped beer at the bar upon arrival, but at 2:00 PM everything was still closed - no chance. On all three evenings, there was only bottled beer and no freshly tapped beer, which I had been looking forward to. The lady behind the counter seemed very disinterested and bored the whole time, and you had to specifically address or ask her if you wanted something to drink. This somewhat marred the entire stay and resulted in a...
Read moreFrom the moment I booked the room until the day I departed, everyone I encountered who worked at the Hotel Roma was polite and helpful. The day and night reception staff were able to assist me from directing me to the old town by walking to getting me a seat on a bus to Vienna, when I had missed my original journey.
The rooms are large, clean and regularly replenished from towels to the mini bar (also a decent price for its contents).
The morning breakfast was a selection of breads, cereals and pastries, complimented with a vast array of preserves and cheeses. You could consume as much as you like within the four walls of the lounge, where the staff refill the lowering levels throughout the 7-10am time slot. They also have 2 coffee machines, which helps ease the strain in busy periods of service.
Check-in is at 2pm, however late check-in can be arranged by email (check website) or by phone. Check out time is at midday, which is excellent if you have had a late night previously. They also offer a free luggage storage area whilst you await your taxi to your next destination.
Definitely stay here again...
Read moreMy wife & i recently stayed at Hotel Roma in Mala Strana area , Prague. The negatives: the hotel is not as hotel described “a few steps away” from attractions , more like long & tiring walk. The hotel staff were not welcoming. They did not even bother to address some concern we had . Hotel appears to be penny pinching. They don’t even provide tissue paper in the room & at night , you can find hallways pitch dark because lights are switched off. You have to turn on the light switch. Showering was a task since there is no overhead shower, you have to hold the sprayer with one hand.Bathtub was moldy around. 2 twin bed were saggy for us. Hotel room walls look really dirty & can use some wipe down. Breakfast was ok, there were choices. IMO, Hotel in general, lacks quality & service.
The positive: Location is good in terms of accessibilty to tram. There is a tram stop outside the hotel & Prague has an efficient & well connected tram system. There are a lot of tram stops throughout Prague.Using the tram system is the way to move around without tiring yourself.Area is quiet & felt...
