We were there as a 12-people group for a birthday. The food is good, most of the staff is very kind and friendly.
BUT we had a huge issue about one of the waiters, I really think that the way he treats people is quite problematic and the management should put some attention in this.
I asked him the direction to the restroom and he wanted me to hold his arm to accompany me to the toilet arm-in-arm. I said no, and he asked me “why” and I had to say no again persistently. Then he misdirected me, by “joking” about where the toilet really is. I tried to avoid him. At the end of the night I learned that to another female friend on the table he did a similar thing, also “complimented” her in a disturbing way and she also didn’t want to make a scene so she ignored him.
Also, he disrespectfully interrupted our conversations on the table when he was there to serve something. He was dominating the table as if it was a one-man-show. He might be thinking that his attitude is “friendly and warm” but it’s disturbing and intimidating.
At the very end, when everybody was paying separately, we were chatting while waiting for a friend to pay and he shouted at us and tried to shush us with rude hand gestures to tell we should stop talking so he can hear the person who is paying. I told him that he’s been disrespectful the whole night interrupting and disturbing and now shouting at us is completely unacceptable and that he has no manners. After I said this, he told me that “this is Czech Republic”, whatever that means.
Not acceptable. None of it. This was such a horrible final to a pleasant birthday dinner.
Although we like the food and the ambience, we would all be hesitant to come to Luka Lu again, especially for special occasions. Complete...
Read moreThis place is a hidden pearl in Prague. The ambience and atmosphere recall definitely the Balkan style and culture, however the design and attention to every single detail inside of the restaurant is astonishing. Everything looks all over the place and chaotic and at the same time so organised. Even the choice of the music it’s so in line with what you see around you.
The Menu offers a very traditional and characteristic selection of Balkan and Eastern European types of dishes. Everything very exquisitely and well made. I definitely recommend the cheese filled peppers or the melon with prosciutto as a starter. Also their house white wine was absolutely delicious. However what me and my partner can’t forget is actually the simples thing that our waiter recommended us.Which is their house home made bread with a mix of traditional sauces. Honestly that just made our dinner. We could’ve stayed there all night eating just dipped bread. I can’t really describe how such a simple small appetiser was so good.
In the end a very special thank you to our waiter Nicola who took care of us and guide us trough their menu and entertained us during the dinner. His genuine smile and enthusiasm to introduce us to their own food and traditions was so contagious. I really felt like I was cuddled when he was serving us, which is one of the best things you can feel as a guest in a restaurant. Very well done mate, thank you so much, as this experience would’ve not been the same without you!! Honestly best service I received during our staying in the...
Read moreVery nice and authentic restaurant in the heart of Prague. The restaurant’s menu has a Serbian, Macedonian, Yugoslavian, let’s say, taste to it. You will find from grilled paprika filled with cheese to fish soup, from meat platters with the famous cevapcici, to many types of fish, from vanilla ice cream to Turkish baklava. It really has delicious food and all dishes are generous. We took the meat platter for 2, lamb sausages, cevapcici, pljeskavica, chicken breast, all really tasty and juicy, very well prepared on the grill. The selection of wines is also quite impressive, bringing all sorts of wine from the former Yugoslav area. The staff is very friendly and engaging, really helpful and good wine recommendations. The interior it’s really setting this place apart from many restaurants. You can definitely tell they put a lot of effort creating a nice, very colorful atmosphere. The music goes well with the whole thing, I definitely heard something traditional from that region, but also some very nice Spanish and Portuguese songs. Reservation is highly recommended, especially if want to eat there for dinner during the weekend.
Update: Went there again and of course tried something else. The lamb is so good, so tender, so delicious, so difficult to describe. The traditional pastry with cheese, Gibanica, out of this world. I highly recommend it. If I could give it more...
