I chose this hotel since it is located right next to Republic Square where old town begins, so it is really nice to start and end each day at like some kind of an "old town starting point". So the location IS prime, but it's more of personal preference. |The hotel staff was reasonably helpful but not very enthusiastic. Breakfast was varied and filling. ||The hotel itself:| feels quite dark and empty, the front desk was usually manned by only 1 person, there was a fridge wish some drinks in the lobby, some padded chairs and that's basically it. I wasn't even able to change money at the front desk - I had to take it to one of the change shops outside. The hotel's bar was permanently closed, and when I asked the desk lady about it, she said it has been like this since Covid. To be honest it was quite a sad sight.||As for our room:|It was a small reasonably clean room. Some wear and tear in some places but nothing too dramatic. Small TV above a desk to the right from where we slept, so it wasn't very convenient to watch it. |Every once in a while there was a weird water dripping sound that I couldn't be certain about its source, but it might drive you crazy... |My main beef was with the beds. When we booked the room it said "two large double beds". The two beds that we actually got weren't large and I wouldn't even call them double beds. They were more of a 2 single person beds joint together, so if you planning snuggling with your partner, one of you will always sink in in between the gap of the 2 beds. The mattress wasn't comfortable and felt unbalanced and the pillows definitely need to be replaced. |The walls were quite thin I would assume, since we could easily hear our neighbors laughing, or a baby crying. There wasn't really a way to adjust the room temperature, there was only an old radiator hidden behind the curtains and that's it. |The view from our window was just the other side of the building but I wouldn't expect a view of the Vltava with the asking price. ||Overall it felt like the place really gave up on itself, and now only running on fumes and take whatever it can get before it will will end up...
Read moreLocation - excellent; close to the transport network, short walk to most local attractions - from shopping at the Palladium Shopping Centre to Charles Bridge, Old Town Square and the plethora of bars, restaurants and museums.I||Room - we booked a double, get a triple, had to push beds together, but it's not the same. Did not complain as arrived close to midnight following delayed flight and just wanted to sleep.|Good sized, very warm, but being on the inside we were able to open the windows to cool it down.|Beds comfortable but, as others have mentioned the pillows are "strange" BUT I was able to shape them how I wanted, and slept well.|My wife disgusted at how dirty the carpets were, she thought I might catch something when walking barefoot.||Shower - powerful and easy to control in my room, but, that shower base could be slippery. Almost fell over first time, thereafter took extra care, no drama. But be aware.||Breakfast plentiful options. Was able to fill up sufficiently to not need lunch. Different types of bread, hot food, cold meats, salad, yoghurt, cakes, fruit, cereal, juice, tea, coffee. Colombian hotels take note!|Nice sized dining area, and fabulously clean toilet - places everywhere take note! This how you keep a clean toilet.||Facilities? No bar!! Just a "fridge" in reception area, despite there being a cosy bar area.||Staff... I had been warned by a friend who lived in Prague about how "cold" the Czechs could be. Out of the 4 receptionists we saw, only one manager a natural smile and welcoming warmth one expects in the service industries. And we only saw her once.|Don't get me wrong, none were outwardly rude, they were helpful just not welcoming, I've received a warmer welcome from a Custody Sergeant at Lewisham Police Station.|In fact the cleaning women were friendlier!|Personally, I found it quite funny so made an extra effort to say "Good Morning" / "Evening" every time I passed they reception, just to test if it was for real. It was.||Pick this place for VFM, good breakfast and excellent location, just don't expect a...
Read moreHotel room was reasonable size and clean. Bathroom looked like it had been retiled recently but the door was very tatty and stuck/grated noisily every time we moved it. The bed was comfortable but only one pillow. Needed a mirror next to dressing table. ||Main two problems were temperature of room and shower. Standard rooms are not air-conditioned and so it was very warm even in late September (and I hate having electric fans running all night after one I used nearly caught fire). Eventually I took the duvet off and slept under only the duvet cover which helped a bit. The windows cannot be left open at night as the road is very noisy. Also, the windows are not like the website pictures - in our room they were very high and I could not reach the handle (a stool is provided for this purpose), see photo.||The shower lacked power so it was hard to wash my thick shoulder length hair. The temperature also fluctuated, first becoming hot and then cold without touching the controls. Shower head was only thing that was very old and tarnished in the bathroom too.||Breakfast was ok - enough options to be able to fill yourself up, but it was nothing special. Hot options varied but there were always eggs if you did not fancy the local options.||We were only looking for a base for sightseeing so the hotel was in an ideal location for this, close to public transport and a very short walk from the main square, but I would look for something...
