I have mixed feelings about the restaurant Next Door by Imperial. We were eating at this restaurant just a moment ago. This restaurant has been widely praised, partly because the restaurateur is Zdeněk Pohlreich himself. Well, what kind of experience was the dinner then? In the beginning, everything went smoothly. I had made a table reservation at the restaurant on the same day. The time of the table reservation was at 9:30 pm. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted in a friendly manner and otherwise everything went smoothly as usual until the arrival of the appetizer. After that, the rush started. Appetizers arrived at the table very quickly. So fast that we didn't manage to drink our aperitifs. The same continued with the main courses. the drink was still half finished when I already ate the main course. The rush was topped off by the waiter, who came to ask before I had reached the middle of the main course if we wanted to order dessert. Can you believe. The dessert order had to be made before we had eaten the main course. This seemed downright outrageous. If someone comes to your restaurant after making a table reservation, the customer should be allowed to dine in peace! Also, I paid quite a bit of money for the meal. We were told that the restaurant would close soon and therefore it would be a hurry to order dessert if we wanted to enjoy one. Well we ordered it, but we didn't enjoy the rest of the meal anymore. It was as if we were kicked out of the restaurant. This is sad in the sense that the food itself was quite tasty. I cannot recommend a late reservation. If you intend to eat in this restaurant, come in the early evening. Otherwise, you won't have a good time. The restaurant is all in all a good average level, nothing more. A 10 percent service charge was smoothly added to the total amount of the bill and I was advised how to leave a tip. Well, I didn't leave this time and I'm unlikely to have dinner...
Read moreWe ordered a crawfish soup that had an u appealing very heavy “fishy” smell, similar to an old rotting dakeater dock pilin at low tide. It took an unacceptably long time for our entrees to arrive and they came along with the two side salads on very large plates. Since we were at a small two-place table the salad plates had to de stacked on top of other items on the tsbke. One of our orders was sea bream fish with Ssian vegetables. There were two pieces of fish - one larger than the other. The karge piece was not as fresh as the smaller piece. The Asian vegetables were stir fried with some soy sauce and perhaps a touch of oyster sauce. The plate was very pedestrian and uninspired. Our other entree was roast beef with brown gravy and round pressed bread slices. It looked like something from a very low-end diner. The brown gravy was not very flavorful. A canned or even powdered gravy mix would have been better. The bread discs were inexcusable - it appeared to be cheap white sandwich bread that had been squished and then cut out with a circular cookie cutter. We finished what we could and sat for a very long time waiting for someone to check on us, which was bewildering considering the stack of dishes on our table and clear evidence we were finished. Eventually, another restaurant employee cleared our plates and we asked for our check. After awhile our waiter came with our check. He the asked if everything was ok and we shared we were not impressed with the meal. We paid 2,000+ CZK for one of the poorest meals in...
Read moreI often go to eat at the weekend at this restaurant or at the Kafe Imperial. you immediately notice the taste of the furnishings, the extreme order of the organization, with highly professional staff. this positive feeling relaxes the mind to prepare it to know how to taste food. and even the palate has never been disappointed, considering that you think I go there every weekend, not even once. yesterday I ate a soup with shrimp ravioli. an intense, original dish, prepared with impromptu professionalism. from the consistency, to the perfectly “al dente” ravioli pasta. and what about the delicacy of “ Řízek” , a popular recipe, which here takes on elegance, simplicity, delicacy. the puree always maintains the high level of quality that I have tasted since the first time. and the desserts? the haute patisserie that I taste every time always forces me to get excited. very few restaurants in Prague give this importance to dessert. and here the level is truly excellent. I must be sincere . I have been living in Prague for twenty years and I must admit with extreme certainty that the group of Restaurants, Kafe Imperial, Next Doors and Divinis maintain high quality over time and above all in all the elements that distinguish a classy restaurant. An environment of extreme taste, classy dishes with a strong personality, perfect organization and extreme professionalism of the staff. you have conquered me. and I will be your customer with pleasure again. with sincere...
