I will start of with the positive which is the food was really great. Compliments to the chef!
However, the service was really bad. Our appetiser arrived pretty quickly but after that it all went downhill. While we were waiting for our food we noticed guests that arrived 15 minutes after us were getting their food faster than we were. I wasn't too bothered by this until we ordered coffee after our food. We waited for 20 minutes for just 2 cups of coffee. 15 minutes into our wait, the waitress even seemed to have forgotten we ordered coffee as she asked us again if we wanted dessert or coffee. When it was time to pay the waitress told us our total was excluding the service fee and asked us how much we wanted to tip, to which we said we didn't want to tip. She asked us if something was wrong with the food, and we told her the food was good but we had to wait for a really long time. She kept insisting we tip, saying how it is normal in Czech Republic to leave a tip. The tip should be paid for good service, not for the food. We didn't receive good service so we didn't want to. She practically begged us to tip, stating that it's normal and we should leave a tip. She seemed really annoyed afterwards.
In contrast, we have been to a lot of traditional Czech eateries where the waiters were so quick to put our total in the payment terminal that they had to cancel the payment and enter it again to include the tip we wanted to give. All places we have been to so far had really humble waiters, as it should be.
Begging for a tip is very very poor taste, especially if you didn't earn it. Despite the good food I can not give this establishment more than one star.
We were also never asked if we liked our food, and our food just got dropped at our table without wishing us a good meal. Please teach your wait staff about...
Read moreThis used to be one of my favourite restaurant in Prague, where I take my friends and customers from abroad for more than 5 years. There used to be an Italian cook, but apparently now there is someone new, who is Czech. The food here tasted a little bit better than other Czech owned Italian restaurants, but not as good as before.
First impression after arrival, the manager or main waiter just pointed to the table I reserved and looked away. That is nothing wrong with it, but I was used to different level of service in this restaurant. It is common to be introduced to the table and handed the menu. I waited more than 10 minutes to be asked for a drink. Before, when I asked questions about their starters, they always gave me a very detailed explanation, but not this time. I ordered wine in a glass and it had like 25 degree Celsius, basically the same temperature like outside. I asked 2 different staff members here, and either they did not know, or they were offended by the question, that they just told me, that they changed the menu and everything is on the menu, so like take it or leave it, but don't ask anymore questions kind of reaction... We waited exactly 40 minutes to get the pizzas, but other tables were served before even though they came later. Of course, no apologies for waiting ect.
The pizza was ok, but not as good as before. The waitress didn't smile once serving us, the atmosphere was not very pleasant and she even dared to asked for TIP when I was paying, without the question if I was satisfied or not. I was so disappointed and had to leave ASAP. Next time, I will just order pizza to take away from them, unless I find a better...

We arrived to the restaurant very tired and exhausted after travelling a long way to Prague and expected nothing more than average restaurant service and tasty food. Unfortunately Alforno was a huge disappointment and left us feeling terrible.
Service was the worst we've ever gotten and the pizzas were really bad quality, especially for an Italian restaurant. From the very beginning we weren't getting proper service and whenever someone from the staff remembered to come to us they didn't even look at us in the eyes and were bringing us wrong drinks. At the end we were served espressos we hadn't ordered and when we asked about them we got very aggressive comments from the serveant and he moved the espressos to the next table leaving us with the feeling that we had done something wrong by asking. It was a public humiliation for us and clearly the other customers got much better service.
Would have been nice to at least get a good meal but as well as the kitchen was clearly lacking qualified cooks, the service staff also made us feel like we're not welcome and don't deserve proper service. The most annoying thing is that I couldn't say anything to defend myself in the restaurant as I was really shocked by the...
