We came to Lehká Hlava after hearing many recommendations, but i have to say this vegen-concept-restaurants feels very out dated. Making dishes in a "vegan" take, which is only visual while still calling them the original name does not help as the vegan takes are very far from the original version. For example you may need a lot of imagination in thinking a bunch of cut and tasteless avocados served with canned overly salted dry tomato spread and pre-bought nachos is somehow can be called "tartare" stake. And this kind of mistakes are being repeated in every dish, you expect someone to be X but thats a vegan take of X which is completely different in taste, texture, and feel. Also the svichovka was too sweet, and the beyond-meat cutlet was feeling too much like beyond meat and definitely not a "dumpling" as described. We also had the No-Duck-Purée which was interesting but again was relied on very much on not so good meat alternatives (this time it was deeply fried seitan) which was tasty but felt odd and was taking over the purée and the gravy, though it was the best dish we had there it was still not good enough - not balanced, not using fresh vegetables, not letting the ingredients "pop" - it feels like a 2009 vegan restaurant, stuck in an era where being vegan is a trend and making vegan takes on average dishes is a reason to open a restaurant, even though those dishes are strange in taste and texture or event tasteless. We are way passed that era, I can only recommend it to hard core vegans that want to feel the taste of meat again, or experience meaty dished in a strange vegan take, but for foodies or people who just seek a vegetarian restaurant - there are unfortunately much better...
Read moreI had the 'Grilled goat cheese with walnuts, served on potatoes au gratin and spinach leaves in coconut milk with garlic, basil pesto and balsamic reduction', with 'Chia pudding with a coconut milk, banana, chocolate and blueberries, served with nutty granola and agave syrup' for dessert. I usually don't eat dairy, but when I read that they offered spinach with goat cheese, I just had to try it. It was served in a little over ten minutes (ordered around 21.00h on a Thursday), which is pretty amazing by itself. And when I started to eat I got a little emotional. I had long accepted the sad fact that if my mother would pass away, I would miss out on the exceptional quality of her dishes, that cannot be surpassed by any restaurant, at least none I can afford. Well, until today, now I know I can go to this restaurant and have an amazing experience of taste. My oh my, what an fantastic accomplishment by the chef, wow! I don't give this compliment easily, not at all. Rest assured that everything about the dish is well balanced and that the ingredients are fresh. I did spot a few tiny grains of sand in the wild spinach, but that's almost impossible to avoid. As for the dessert, again well balanced, by combining sweet with the very, slightly dry granola to counter it. But the dryness of the granola was compensated by the chia pudding, so if you eat all parts of that dish together with each bite, then you'll have a great experience. The server (man) was a polite and sensitive individual, slightly shy. I will certainly visit this...
Read moreThis has always been my favorite restaurant, a symbol of great food a cozy atmosphere. Today, however, almost made me cry. I ordered from the lunch menu - miso ramen. Despite that, I waited 20 minutes for the lunch menu (at 1am), which surprised me. The ramen was lukewarm. They said they will fix it, and brought it lukewarm again. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. (The waitress told me they measure the temperature and serve at 60°). The table next to me had the same problem. The third attempt was finally good. The food was average at best. The portion was relatively small and too salty (this is not the first time; I think both portion size and saltiness is a general preference of this establishment; perhaps they think people like it so, but many good restaurants don't do it so much - it is not necessary for the food to be tasty). The service was really forthcoming regarding music, they changed the dynamic music with pronounced beats (which is their usual setup) to something more peaceful; the owner was really interested in my preferences and we had a short talk. It seems like they are really interested in the customer experience. The waitress was really apologizing and gave 50% off. However, I don't think I will come back in the...
