We arrived at 11pm at the hotel. I had to pay the bill of $148.63 in advance for room 301 for a reservation from 28.10 to 30.10.2022. Once in the room, I checked the bed as I had read some recent reviews about the questionable hygiene of the hotel and the sheets. The sheets had on them skin debris, hair etc. and other things that I couldn’t really identify. The pillowcases were dirty, the towels in the bathroom too. (See attached photos.) The receptionist couldn’t be bothered to come and see the condition of the room and the sheets. He told us the hotel was full and so we couldn’t change rooms - he was going to send someone to change the bedding. An employee came with two sheets in the room. He was not wearing a mask, no gloves and his hands were not clean. He came to the room four times, with towels, pillowcases etc. it was clear that housekeeping was not his primary job. It was clear the room had not been cleaned after the previous guest had left and absolutely not disinfected. After we had finally fallen asleep, the receptionist woke us up with his call to see if everything was okay. I told him I’d speak to the manager in the morning. The manager could only meet with me the next afternoon. He told me I could have changed rooms the night before - the receptionist had told me it was not possible as the hotel was full. He offered me a refund of $48 out of the $148.63 I had paid. That was his estimate of the compensation for having to put up with a room that had not been cleaned or disinfected (during the Covid era). I refused his offer and told him that I prefer to contact Booking.com and open a dispute because I find that it is not up to him to fix the compensation due. He also offered to change rooms for the second night which I also refused - after the first night at the hotel and the general hygiene of the establishment, I didn’t want to try a second experience in another room. On the other hand, the room overlooks the street and not the pyramids. You have to go out to the balcony which is very noisy and lean to the left to see the pyramids. Many of the services listed online are non-existent: - No safe in the room - No mini bar - No possibility of exchange at the hotel. - No room service - Deplorable hygiene in the rooms and in the breakfast room - Bathroom faucets that are not properly fitted in the wall. - Glass shower panels with loose joints. - Leaking shower cubicle that left the bathroom floor flooded and dirty. -Tables not cleared at breakfast and not disinfected between customers. -Basic hygiene and anti-Covid measures are clearly insufficient. I honestly can’t recommend this hotel and team enough. From the moment I booked via Expedia, Gamal, the hotel manager, was in touch straight away and stayed in contact right up to the moment we arrived. He didn’t just run the hotel; he helped organise our entire trip. He guided us on the best ways to get from Sharm El Sheikh to Cairo, explained transport options, gave us honest advice on prices, and made us feel completely safe and looked after before we’d even met him. The hotel itself is quaint and cosy. BUT the view from our room was absolutely surreal. You’re not just ‘near’ the Pyramids, you’re directly in front of them. You couldn’t get closer unless you were sleeping on the sand. Waking up to that view never got old. The hotel was clean, the bed comfortable, the shower hot, breakfast was great, and the coffee genuinely good. Everything you want when your focus is the experience, not unnecessary frills. But what made this trip unforgettable was the people. Gamal arranged every single excursion to suit exactly what we wanted, with full honesty, no hidden charges, no scams, no ‘tourist trap’ experiences. Everything ran smoothly and transparently. He even arranged a surprise birthday cake for me during our Nile dinner cruise, which was such a thoughtful, personal touch I’ll never forget. Mohammad, our driver, was equally brilliant. He wasn’t just a driver, he became part of the trip. Warm, funny, and full of stories about Egypt, every drive with him felt like travelling with a friend. He shared so much local knowledge and always made us feel safe. And Sherif, our guide…what an absolute gem. He’s incredibly knowledgeable but also honest. If something wasn’t worth paying for, he told us. If shopkeepers were inflating prices for tourists, he told us. He genuinely wanted us to have the best possible experience, not just spend money. He also took incredible photos of us throughout the trip without us even having to ask. It felt like sightseeing with a long-time friend, not a hired guide. I was nervous about visiting Egypt. I was worried about scams and feeling unsafe, but none of that matched the reality I experienced. Gamal, Mohamed, and Sherif as well as all the hotel staff and the people we met along the way changed that entirely. They made us feel welcome, safe, and genuinely cared for every step of the way. If you’re visiting Cairo and you’re not booking with Gamal and his team, you’re genuinely missing out. Hands down the best choice we made for our entire trip.

The absolute best Hotel in Gizeh if you like to book a decent, clean and welcoming middle class Hotel with great Western standards! (We're 2 women from Germany.) Apart from Mamlouk, you'd have to book a significantly more expensive Hotel like the Marriott Mena House, if you wish to have a carefree stay in beautiful & clean surroundings. Everything in Mamlouk is clean and welcoming, their rooftop terrace with a magnificent view of the Gizeh pyramids, and there's a roof in case it gets a bit windy/chilly in the evenings. Mena House's pyramid view is not as stunning! Their food, absolutely delicious. We stayed in Best View Pyramids Hotel (not recommendable), but our guide showed us Mamlouk Hotel, so we went there for Dinner and sometimes Lunch every following day. Nothing, absolutely nothing was below delicious. Try the Mezze platter for 2 if you eat there only one time. Waiters are totally customer-minded, great guys with good manners. Freshly made juices, i even got an Omelette though it wasn't on the menu. Portions are huge for Dinner. Latte delicious. Book this Hotel (i don't get any benefits for a good review, just for others to avoid disappointments!) you won't regret it.
