I had a reservation at this hotel today! Upon booking we had clarify that we are a family and have an infant with us when we make the booking I received a several messages from them the most specific one was if I want to be picked up from the airport for an additional €20 I was asked this over 3 times until I say no I won’t need assistance with the picking up but they haven’t mentioned anything neither in booking.com nor in their website of their requirements for a couples ! When we arrived at the hotel we provide them with our identification documents (little background I am a British citizen and my husband is an Egyptian citizen settled in UK) they tell us that by the Egyptian law we need to be married to stay together we are indeed married and we have both an religious and legal marriage and luckily I had the certificates for both ! I provide them with both of the certificates also a birth certificate of our child where also confirm that we the parents(ME AND MY HUSBAND) are in legal marriage. I think is a type of a scam because after all the stuff they ask for which NO ONE PERSON IN THE WORLD WOULD TAKE ON A HOLIDAY but luckily I had their answer was “WE WILL NEED THE EGYPTIAN LEGALISATION OF THIS DOCUMENTS” other solution was my husband British identity documents after he provided this one us well and they run out of excuses they directly say that they will cancel the booking without a cancellation fee and literally force us to cancel and the only way they will accept us if we need to provide an Egyptian Marage certificate I find this is insane I am not an Egyptian citizen my husband have immigrate over 10 years ago from Egypt and have almost nothing in connection to them our child is born and lived in UK his entire life no even one of us would ever plan to live in Egypt but to book a hotel we need to legalise our marriage in Egypt 😕😳😕 anyway later I come to realise it was a scam as we we’re going out of the so called Hotel (by the way 3rd floor No lift any infants and toddler parents understand me totally not kids friendly) one stairs down is by their words different hotel but some how with access to the same rooftop and same everything even the internet offer us to take our British Marriage certificate but charged us double price per night anyway we were willing to accept as is not really easy finding a hotel last second a specially with a baby but when we went in there was smelling disgusting it was an extremely disgusting and dirty so we just couldn’t stay there even for a minute so we make our way and get in to the first decent hotel we found it was horrible experience if you want smooth and nice experience in Cairo avoid this hotel in any price trust me it will get you way more expensive if you fail for their scam as I am sure they will answer with something like there is no registration with this name my booking reference...
Read moreDo NOT book this hotel on hotels.com. When we got there they didn't have our booking. They said their listing on hotels.com was hacked, the prices lowered by the hacker, and they didn't have our room. And if they did, it would cost more (they didn't charge us more). They said it was an issue for them and hotels.com is not responsive. I arrived in the middle of the night, after a very long flight, to be told my room was not available. They put the 4 of us in their last available room with two double beds, which was fine for the night since we were dead tired. The next day they moved us into a bigger room. The day after they finally moved us into the room we booked, with a view of the pyramids (the entire reason I chose this hotel in the first place, for the view). The first two rooms we had did not face the pyramids, but were quiet since it was away from the street. The last room faced the pyramids, but was loud at night (dogs barking, cars honking). It was a hassle having to pack our stuff up each day for our 3 day stay and leaving our bags in the lobby. It was not very clean, there seemed to be a layer of grime on everything. The water temperature in the shower not consistent (this seemed to be normal throughout Egypt though). The day before we left, the hotel owner came to talk to us, and gave us a free lunch for the room trouble, he was on vacation for the past month and it seems things were let go during his absence (he apologized for the hotel not being clean too). He seemed quite nice. I'm giving the hotel a 1/5 on hotels.com so others won't have a missing reservation, and a 3/5 on Google / Tripadvisor for the hotel itself.||||Also, hotel is very hard to find, should put a sign outside. It's right next to a bank, there is an unmarked doorway, you have to go inside and then go up like 3 flights of stairs, and then there is a sign inside the stairwell so you know which floor to stop at. Our airport driver had to ask around in the middle of the night to find the hotel. If we had come in an Uber we would have been toast lol. They do have a 24 hour front desk, but the phone number I had via hotels.com said it wasn't a valid number when my driver tried to call. Anyway, maybe things will be clean since the owner is back and if you book directly with the hotel you may have a better experience than me....
