We arrived in the hotel at late night and they welcome us with a delicious drink. Mido from reception oriented us about the hotel, facilities and kind to make an itinerary for tours.|There were lot of hotels nearby the pyramids and this one won my heart. Its a walking distance to the pyramid and just enough at the end of the street away from the gate to avoid the traffic and crowd. The area smells horse dung even at the rooftop but it didnt bother us unless you are sensitive to the smell might consider a place at city center. They got nice pool which is perfect for cooling down or sunbathing after a long day from tours. The receptionists and hotel staffs are so welcoming, polite and helpful. The restaurant offers a lot except for decaffeinated coffee😅 I tried their pasta, grills, sandwiches and soup. Its all lovely❤️.they make a delicious falafel and fruit juices too,one of the best is mango. Watermelon was so refreshing but tried it just once as most of our stay its not available. We booked the Deluxe double room with Balcony.its a lovely huge room with pool view,i didnt mind about getting a pyramid view as it is visible in the restaurant and more prominent at the rooftop. The bathroom was huge too, though water keeps the entire bathroom wet after showering. Hope they provide a rubber mop at least and install a shower rack too. We avail the tours Mido arranged for us for the first 3 days and tried our own way for the rest of our stay. The tour was all lovely, just have to bring extra dollars on your budget and make room on your luggage for egyptian products the guide will bring you to which was not part of the itinerary or just dont purchase anything at all. Hope they mention a more detailed itinerary about the papyrus museum, spices shop, perfume shop, etc beforehand so that visitors like us would not be surprised and bombarded with sales talk.Though my favorite was the perfume and spices shop.the guide brought us to nice restaurants too for lunch, its a good experience to taste local cusine. The Nile cruise dinner is a must experience as well. We had an ATV ride and the guide brought us to this local men with a camel in the middle of the trip. He made us ride the camel and took nice photos of us,it was not part of the itinerary that we know off but i guess it was good experience to ride a camel for the first time and got a panoramic view of the 9 pyramids. You gotta bring extra cash everywhere as mostly people expects a tip from foreigners. It's safe to walk around even at night and Uber is accessible in the area Overall, our stay was pleasant...
Read moreWe stayed here for 3 nights. The room was spacious, the bed comfy, and the rooftop terrace has a gorgeous view of the pyramids. Breakfast was generous with three options, and though small, the pool was a nice bonus on hot, dusty days. Staff were friendly too.
Now for the not-so-great part: We initially booked a different hotel (Paradise Pyramids View Inn) because they advertised on booking.com having a pool and we even confirmed that through WhatsApp. Upon arrival, we discovered the pool was actually at their sister property, Nun Pyramids Inn. When we requested to switch to Nun Pyramids Inn, the manager informed us it would cost $80 per night, a significant jump from our original $25 rate. However, a quick online search showed rooms at Nun Pyramids Inn listed for approximately $31 per night. After showing this to the manager, he agreed to match the online price, making it seem like a special deal. It's possible he wasn't aware of the current online rates, but the initial price hike felt off-putting.
After settling the room rate, we were eager to relax by the pool. Instead, we spent about 30 minutes listening to a sales pitch for the hotel's expensive tours. While not overly long, it was still more than we wanted after a tiring journey.
Before booking a tour with the hotel, do some online research about the prices for tours. You'll get a good feeling of what's fair.
Honestly, I don’t understand the constant upselling here in Egypt —just offer fair prices to your already customers and people will come to you!
A few other notes: no shower curtain, so the bathroom floods breakfast includes tea/coffee but juice is extra and they don’t tell you that up front, they don't offer you tea/coffee, you have to ask for it laundry was overpriced (50 EGP per item), came back damp, stained, and not smelling fresh one night, music from the restaurant and loud staff conversations in the hallways kept us up past midnight
Lastly, not about the hotel but the neighbourhood, a warning for animal lovers: the area has many horses and camels tied up tightly overnight. We witnessed animal mistreatment, including whipping and someone throwing rocks at stray dogs. It...
Read moreBeds were comfortable, AC worked well and the location was good for pyramids but that’s all the good news. Started badly when we arrived at 1.30 am after flight delay we were given a room we hadn’t booked. Plugged in the bedside lamp and found bare wires on the switch. Great start. They corrected our room in the morning.
We were offered guided tours at exorbitant prices, be careful. Top tip: if you go to the museum first day you can ask someone else’s tour guide if they are busy the next day to take you to the pyramids. Ubers are cheap and reliable so make your own way there and meet at the gate. We didn’t do this, we paid for a tour at the hotel which was a big mistake but we only had three days here so went that route. So wish we hadn’t. Our drivers car broke down three times, and ran out of gas once. Tour guide was good. The rooftop view of the pyramids shown on bookings.com is not from here. You can see just the top of the pyramids from the roof deck which was really tired and poor. Another deception. We sent our two grown up boys(16,20) on a 1 hour quad bike tour organised this time cheaply by the hotel. The tour guide took them to a hut to drink tea, sit on a camel and the guy in the hut was high, glazed eyes etc, and was talking drugs to my boys all the time.(I wasn’t there but my boys are fully aware of the guys state of mind). Ended up having about 20 minutes on the bikes, no helmets like other tours and demanded big money in tips at the end. He then got aggressive when he didn’t get it. This was organised by the hotel. Everyone outside in Cairo were friendly and never felt intimidated, and always felt safe even at night. Unfortunately we didn’t trust the hotel, take passports and valuables with you when you go out. They’re only interested in the money. Top tip: book one nights stay (not here) then when you are in Egypt check bookings.com and you will find local rates for 20 or 30usd per night. Oh and just to cap it off, all four of us got food poisoning from the restaurant at the Great Pyramid View hotel. Managed to get on our flight to Rome and we are still...
