Sun Woo would not even qualify as a "pension house." We booked directly through the hotel and did not use an agent. It was promised to be quite nice and promoted well by the contact. We did not realize it was down an alley, well back from the Station 2 area it is portrayed to be a part of. However, at Sun Woo, we found:|| the complex (and that is what it looked like when we walked into it, like the multi-family compounds I lived in in Korea) was drab looking, undergoing repairs, etc.||Room 205: Disappointing looking from the moment we walked in, bed had sand/grittiness on it. Shower hose leaked in 2 place and so water pressure was so low that hot water was uncontrollable and burning hot. The chair and couch were dirty. The towels were worn looking, poor looking. I went to the front desk, complained, and received room 105 as a replacement.||Found the bathroom window open and no latch on it. Had to ask them to put a latch on it to close it and lock it. One of the staff took one from another room to fix ours. Again, couch and chairs were dirty, 2 flea bitten rags passed as throw carpets at the bathroom door and at the sink (one was replaced after our first room service request; they must have finally realized how bad it was). Toilet flushed weakly and we had to use the provided bucket to fill and pour into it for a flush most times. The standard in the Philippines is a safe in the room. I had to ask for one, since one was not in the room and so the one they brought me was just loose on the counter and not mounted in the room. The sheet that was placed on the bed the second day after room service did the room caused our skin to itch so much we had to get up and put clothes on and sleep in clothes. As a "resort" we expected more than 2 towels and so had to ask for 2 more. The bathroom smelled awful, very damp and moldy; no shower curtain, so basically you had to wear shower shoes in the bathroom as the whole room was wet down by the taking of a shower. Free breakfast was edible, but nothing special to write home about. I must say that the trip to and from Kalibo Airport provided by Southwest Travel Agency, via, bus, ferry, and van (which we did book through the Sun Woo reservations clerk) was a fantastic value and very organized and a highlight of the trip. We had negotiated a bargain rate, and so stayed here. Hindsight is 20-20: this "pension house" was worth half what we paid for it and next time will gladly pay twice what we did pay to stay in a real resort on an island that is a paradise, an island we quite enjoyed by staying out of the room most of the trip, really returning to it only to shower and sleep. By the way, Southwest Agency is not affiliated with Sun Woo; Southwest provides service to all the hotels...
Read moreSun Woo Resort is a budget accommodation but room space is good, clean, comfortable and airy. I like that they have a good wi-fi connection in the room, there's a mini fridge too. We traveled with my whole family, occupied three rooms and we did receive a good discount for staying long. I appreciate much the manager Tyrone, who made sure that all our needs are attended to. But most especially Eros from the reception who went out of his way to assist us when we had trouble with our cancelled flight back to Manila. It was a good experience all in all. Before I forget, my grandchildren enjoyed the pool too and it's about 3 minutes away from...
Read moreThe place was very simple and not for A-list people. Its quite cheap already considering its location was near on the best thing in boracay. The place is quiet and peaceful, you dont feel the busy shore outside. their swimming pool is still a plus, at least they have compare to others who charge more expensive. The receptionist was very accommodating. However their food is a drawback, it very dry and they charge very expensive for extra orders. Anyway its already free so i dont mind it. overall still a great value for lower and middle...
