We really wanted to like Jolie. We arrived as a party of 5 and the menu looked great, the wait staff was super friendly, and our table was lovely. We ordered 3 appetizers and 5 mains, including a simple burger for our 6 year old daughter.
Food trickled out very slowly, each of the 3 appetizers one at a time with about 15 minute gaps. Then our mains arrived, 2 at a time, with about a 10 minute wait between the first two sets of mains and then the last (5th one).
Lastly, my dish, the $42 swordfish, was incredibly disappointing, see the picture. It was a tiny slice of overcooked meat. The sauce was lovely but it just wasn’t much of anything. Other mains looked so much better, like the lamb, which someone in our party loved. Another member of our party had the tuna and thought the flavors didn’t work.
The pacing however was our main issue. The whole experience was 2.5 hours and we were ready to go. The servers were super nice but I think the small kitchen just isn’t set up for the throughput necessary to keep dishes coming at a reasonable pace. They did treat our daughter to a birthday ice cream which was lovely. As I have said the service was fantastic just hamstrung by the kitchen. I hope they can work on these issues...

The idea that food alone shapes a restaurant experience is a serious misconception. I expect to savor fine wine and indulge in delightful dishes within an environment that truly embraces me. You slip into a sharp, clean designer suit but confidently pair it with your well-worn, dirty chucks—your style, your choice. You open a restaurant and carefully craft a stunning menu, but you boldly disregard anything that might enhance the dining experience. You know what you want, and you’re not afraid to own it. Not cool. Not a vibe.
Unfortunately, this place falls short. It's astonishing that the owner(s) believed that a cluttered basement was a suitable approach. It's quite presumptuous to think this is what patrons deserve. A bare room with a generic Ikea cabinet, three dusty plants, and some metal Amazon racks for wine storage is a fail. Couples on romantic dates deserve better. Friends reuniting after time apart absolutely deserve better.
On a positive note, the server was kind and attentive. He was charming and wounderful unlike the space. The food was ok. The wine was great. However, would I return? Absolutely not. Would I recommend Joile restaurant?...

Unlike others, service was speedy and attentive. Jake was fabulous and he knew everybody engaging in personal conversation about patrons last visit, weddings and other things. Even with that he was attentive to this first timer explaining dishes and making sure I was taken care of.
The food was the bomb. I had oysters, scallops, crab toast and grilled prawns. All delicious. The oysters were meaty and juicy. The scallops were a bit small but had a fresh flavor and were meaty. The crab toast was amazing. I make it myself at home but this was the best I had. Idk what bread they use for the toast but it’s the perfect vessel and the decadent crab. It was very filling. Lastly the prawns were huge and delicious. I love love loved the couscous and yogurt that accompanied the char of the grilled shrimp. Perfect contrast of flavors.
My only issue was the prawns was $34 in the menu but I was charged $42. I didn’t make a stink of it but someone else just might.
For that reason I can’t give a five stars but a four stars. But I would go again. I likes the area close to the water and want to try other...
