What a lovely little Italian restaurant on Coronado and it's on the side of the island that is opposite of the the Del, which means it is much less crowded and chaotic.
I dined by myself here tonight and couldn't have been more pleased with the service. I was seated immediately, brought a menu and water quickly. My first course was up in less than 5 minutes and my entree came out in less than 10.
The waitress brought out some foccaci bread and olive oil with balsamic vinegar for me - you really need a fair amount of salt to cut a big bowl of olive oil, even with vinegar. The foccaci bread was only OK, the crumb was dry and crumbly and the color was very pale - so I think it could have been made with more olive oil.
I ordered a cup of minestrone soup, because I LOVE a good minestrone soup. This was OK - I felt like it had potential but it needed another 3-4 hours simmering on the stove to help it reach it's full potential.
I ordered creamy pesto on penne and added 2 meatballs. My entree came with a small green salad which was surprisingly dressed perfectly.
My entree was over the top - huge serving and they were overly generous with the creamy pesto, which was delicious! Pasta was done well. Not a fan of the meatballs - thinking they had too much rice and too much oregano in them as they just sort of fell apart on my plate.
All in all, it was a...
Read morePlace is small has indoor and outdoor seating and a bar. We went before dinner so it was pretty empty. We ordered a pizza which was burnt at the bottom. They had no soda. We ordered pastas which the waiter claimed there was a malfunction with his communication systems and he had to re input the order 15 minutes later, causing a further 20 minute delay. I’m not sure if because they were rushing, our pasta was overcooked and hard. Flavor was good but the texture of the pasta was hard. The waiter asked multiple times if I wanted sauce in the meatballs and I said no and he brought them with sauce and didn’t even offer to take it back. But we’re not picky like that to be sending food back anyways. They play the same soundtrack of a cliche Italian beat fyi. Waiters were socially awkward, didn’t look or say hi. Except the waiter that was directly attending us. He seemed like he was high or something - he kept forgetting stuff and mixing up what we said. But he apologized each time. Not sure what was up with him. At the end due to the delay with the food they offered us free dessert. He gave both of us a menu but then said only 1 was free. lol we got a cheesecake which to me tasted like cold milk but this is obviously just an opinion. Overall mediocre service ran by college kids. This place used to be better and had decent portion sizes-...
Read moreThe info available for this establishment was misleading based off of our experience. We walked over a mile to have Italian cuisine here. Come to find out, they were only serving a brunch menu. I did not find this menu anywhere when going through reviews etc during my selection process. This menu had one Italian caprese, breakfast food, a few sandwiches, and a couple of salad options. The food wasn’t “bad” but it wasn’t at all what was advertised. At least 6-7 parties came after us and ALL of them saw the brunch menu & left. The waitresses didn’t seem too disappointed when people were turning away. I hope the owner sees this review and recognizes the horrible mistake they are making by not offering the food that is drawing in your customers. I would also hope your servers are telling you about this issue. My Benedict was decent but when you come to a place craving pasta it just doesn’t cut it. We spent $50 on overpriced breakfast. If we hadn’t been so hungry we would’ve gone somewhere else. We left disappointed at best. I’m sad because I was really looking forward to eating here. This restaurant is accessible by sidewalk but you may have trouble navigating through tables with a wheelchair. They have indoor and...
