I have never left a bad review. I believe everyone deserves a break when they have a bad day. But I always make sure to leave positive reviews for great service because people deserve to hear that. My Google account is full of 5-star reviews. 🌟
However, my experience at Pancake Pantry was so disappointing, not just by one employee, but by each one I encountered, that I feel I need to make a note for them to realize and hope they’ll improve their service for other customers who dine there.
My husband and I were visiting Nashville for the week, and I decided to grab a quick breakfast on my own while he was at his work meeting. I’m not a fan of eating alone, so I already felt a bit awkward, but I had my iPad to keep me company. And, the restaurant was really cute & looked friendly. 😊
When I walked in, the place was not very busy, less than 10 customers sitting and eating, and more than 6 employees walking around. One of them asked if I was eating alone. I smiled and said yes. She pointed to another girl, who didn’t even make eye contact with me, grabbed a menu, and started walking towards a table. I assumed I was supposed to follow her, so I did. She placed the menu on the table and walked away. No word to me. I sat down. Employees kept walking past me. Not one stopped to ask if I wanted to order coffee or ready to order. A few of them were gathered around one of the tables chatting. I sat there for about 20 minutes without water or coffee as I watched them walk past me without any word. I finally asked one of them if I could please place an order. Her response was “Sure, I will let someone know.” She walked away and joined the conversation at the other table. Another 10 minutes went by before someone walked over to ask if I was ready to order. My order was very simple. Coffee + 2 pancakes + 2 eggs. She walked away. 10 minutes went by, and she came back. She said the computer went down, so she needed to know what my order was again! They finally brought the food, I think about 10 minutes later. 2 pancakes and 2 eggs. No syrup! I had to ask for it and then wait again while my pancakes got cold. Wow! At least if the pancakes were good, I would say it was worth the wait. But, they were not. So, I will not be going back there, nor would I recommend this place to anyone. I'm really...
Read moreMy family and I were visiting out of state to Nashville for the first time. As we wanted to divulge into the Nashville culture, a local referred us to The Pancake Pantry. As we were already in downtown Nashville, we chose this particular Pancake Pantry establishment. I was told there may be a wait and sure enough, my 77 year old Mom, 2 daughters and granddaughter braved elements for the 15-20 minute wait. When we finally got in with others behind us, the hostess came running yelling at us to "Get out! I can't have all of you in here at one time!", shooing the guests behind us out. Yes, YELLING. After standing, the hostess without a word, waved me and my family to a table that was half cleaned and straw wrappers, dirty napkins and food crumbs from the previous party under the table.
When our waitress approached to take our drink orders, I politely asked if she could have someone to sweep the crumbs and trash from under the table. The waitress then began to argue with me that "It's only a straw wrapper and a napkin. " And "It's not our policy to sweep around guests once they're seated"- must be a country superstition. I politely advised her that it would be no big deal or inconvenience to us if we had to stand a few minutes until it was cleared. She refused and stormed off. With that, I packed my family up and we left. I shared my displeasure and recommendations the Manager, who offered to do the job his employee refused to do. I thanked him for his kindness, but did not longer want to be served by that particular waitress. We took our business down the street to the Diner on the 3rd, where we were provided SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE by Mariah B. Thank you Mariah for your excellent service! And yes, Mariah was WELL COMPENSATED WITH A GENEROUS TIP FOR HER SERVICE..A loss to The Pancake Pantry and its undisciplined,...
Read moreI was really anticipating eating here, because I love pancakes. So, I decided to wait in the 45 min line. While waiting, there was a menu being passed around, so that people could kind of get an idea of what they wanted. So, once I get in and get seated, the server came to me and asked my drink order, I told her & I also advised that I knew what I wanted to eat, but I had a question. She advised that she would put the drink order in first and come back. Mind you, it's just me. I said, okay. When she came back I said, "I see that the eggs & bacon are under pancake meals, but I wanted to know if I could substitute the pancakes for Pigs in a Blanket, or do I have to buy them all separately?" She gave me the most ugliest look you could imagine and said, "what?" At this point, I compose myself & ask the question a different way, because maybe she didn't understand me. So, we came to the conclusion that I should order separately, which is what I did and added grits. When I got my food, the grits were inedible because they had sooooooo much butter in them. When I pulled my silverware out of the paper, the fork had food particles from another diner on it, so I waited for the server to come back to ask for a new set. She never came, so I asked another server & she looked at me like, "why are you talking to me?" She gave me a new set though. But my server came to serve people around me and just placed my Sprite refill on the table & walked away. I'm usually a big tipper, but I was satisfied with giving her a big fat zero dollar tip while she stood there.
I felt so out of place in this restaurant, that I will NEVER go back. Not saying that they are racist, but I felt that feeling. It's...
