Let's be honest. This is a hotel, not a resort and not a very nice or clean one. Beware of the hidden fees they use to get you in the door. Lower cost is fine, I'll put up with the lack of amenities for a bit less of a price point but when you Che k out they charge you the additional resort fee that brings the cost right up to other hotels in the area that don't mislead you.
Let's put it another way, if you went to a restaurant, ordered food and then when paying the bill saw a table setting fee for the plates and silverware you'd probably be pretty annoyed. This is poor business practice and is the icing on the cake for this dump.
I've stayed at 2 star hotels that are much nicer, cleaner, include all the same and more ammenaties while not charging a hidden fee to stay there.
AC... This was one of the main complaints I read before booking here. I get both sides. AC isn't really necessary because it does get cool at night. But the rooms do get hot. A fan doesn't do much. There needs to be air circulation. Opening a window let's more noise in than air. This was the least of my complaints, I only slept in the room.
Quality of the "resort" is poor. The ammenaties are limited which is weird considering being charged an extra fee for ammenaties. I used a bar of soap the first night that was provided by the "resort", left it in the shower where the soap holder is and it was gone when I took a shower the next day as well as no new soaps left behind in the shower or on the sink. Who needs soap anyway right? Thanks for that.
Cleanliness of the room was bad. The rug was filthy and moldy. The floor of the bathtub is grim and the shower walls didn't look like they are cleaned very often. I wore flip-flops to shower. The chairs and bench seats in the room are covered in stains. The bed however appeared clean or at least that's what I'm telling myself before I begin delousing when I get home.
Postive stuff. The pool closed at 10 and when they came to put the pool cover on, they didn't kick everyone out of the hot tub.
Clearly the negatives out way the positive. I would recommend not staying here. Book with the other cheap hotel in town that works out to be the same price and has much...
Read moreDue to arrive on Saturday from the UK. Bumped off our flight from Chicago to Aspen so did not arrive until Sunday. Tried to call 3 times to advise the hotel but no answer, sent an e mail to let them know. When we arrived they had obviously given our room away, but the receptionist was very nice and they put us in another room which had definitely not been cleaned. The floors were filthy, the drawers were full of bits of rubbish, some of the towels were dirty, opened the fridge door and there was food on the carpet. Obviously never heard of Covid and cleanliness at the Wildwood. The ventilation grid in the bathroom constantly drips onto the toilet, not pleasant if you are sitting there. No plug for the bath, heating stays on 75 no matter what you set it at, sheets ripped, some sort of under sheet on the bed that isn’t attached so by the morning you are lying on a bunched up lump of material. Very nice engineer sent to fix things but didn’t manage the heating, but did sort the dripping. Lock on the door doesn’t work but we only found out when a man walked in while I was sitting in the bath, we now put the ironing board against the door to stop anyone else, Used the laundry and have never seen anywhere so dirty, you would think you were in a student’s accommodation block, I went to reception for some change, the machine in the laundry was broken. They don’t have change and I was sent to a shop. I mentioned how dirty it was in there and the chap at reception just said he had never been in there. So not his problem I guess. One positive was we had a delightful chap come to collect us from the airport. Oh and the phone to reception doesn’t work, or I assume it doesn’t as they never answer it. Finally if you want to get high for free book a room here and hang out in your bathroom it stinks mornings and evenings of marijuana, and for a non drug user this is pretty disgusting. Unfortunately for us we have another week to endure, thank God we ski all day. Will be interesting to see if management try and resolve anything...
Read moreEDIT: in addition to everything I described below, they overcharged me. I stayed with a friend and after repeated requests to split the bill they charged me the full amount and her another half amount. I have tried calling and emailing and no response. This is unacceptable.
I rarely leave reviews but this one needs it. It should be said that the room and common areas were clean, but that was just about the only good thing. Upon arrival I was told my room wasn't ready and to wait in the bar area (no big deal), that they'd come get me when it was ready. More than an hour later still nothing, so I go to the front desk and it turns out the room is ready but the TV doesn't work. They gave us a discount so I didn't care. Once I got the room though there were many issues:
they gave us bunk beds, even though we booked a standard double months in advance. It turns out they over booked and gave all the standards away. I was here for work and staying with a colleague so bunk beds weren't really the best set up, but it was apparently their very last room.
nothing was properly stocked. Not towels, conditioner, etc. When we called down to get more, it took HOURS for them to bring even basic things.
the clothes steamer didn't work. I called down for another, that one was broken, too. I gave up at that point.
lots of unfinished elements. TV wasn't replaced, the lock on the door (the hinge type) was missing a component so it didn't lock.
hot tubs were broken for the majority of the trip. I believe hot tubs are a key amenity for hotels like these (which usually contributes to the price).
upon check out despite clearly asking to split the bill they charged it all to my card. An easy fix but just another indication of the vibe.
They are renovating the hotel but honestly these issues weren't related to that, these were due to mismanagement and poor staffing. I'm not a person who needs a fancy hotel experience, but when you are paying higher prices like these, I believe the basics should be met. They...
