Free Tour Turístico Praga — Local services in Prague

I did the Prague Castle tour with my husband and parents today—and it was exceptional. This was all thanks to our knowledgable, friendly and kind guide, JAMES. It was not easy weather, but James was patient, funny and took great care of everyone in the group, all while fascinating us with the history of the Prague castle (complex). I would highly recommend doing this tour with James—and I’d definitely do more walking tours with him.

Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge with us, James! We loved learning about the Prague Castle from you.

I have just one suggestion: please unabashedly remind guests (at the start and at the end of the tour) that what you do is not just a passion but also your livelihood. It’s worth the guilt tripping—for guests that have no good reason to not pay and worse, sneak off :)

Note for tourists: While this is advertised as a free walking tour, it’s only decent and fair that as tourists we pay our guides for investing their time, effort and knowledge to enhance our experience of the place we are visiting.

I say this because I noticed at least 5-6 people (who stayed till the very end of the tour and seemed to be enjoying it) sneak away without giving James anything while he was occupied answering questions from other guests. I find it shameful that anybody would do such a thing. The least you can do is...

We did the free castle tour and we were not disappointed!!! We almost didn't do the tour because we thought we had to pay to enter the castle!

I went online to reserve a spot for our group just in case. The meeting point is at the central square in front of the tourism office. Look for the blue umbrellas. They suggest you bring 24 kc for the train ride up to the castle. You can either buy the tickets from them or at any station prior to meeting up.

I forgot the name of our guide, might have been Alexis, but anyway she was super cool, funny and very informative! She was so kind and made sure no one was left behind!

During the tour, she also takes you across the Charles Bridge and explains a lot of the history there too which is super helpful.

Old Prague Tour- informative, passionate and engaging. Today I visited some historical sites in the old town of Prague. Our tour guide Lindsay was very passionate about her job and provided us with information that was unique and interesting to hear. The pace of the tour was good and we even visited the not so famous sights that I wouldn’t have known of had it not been for Lindsey. The information provided about the various monuments was so heartwarming that it made me want to change the way I think and brought tears to my eyes. I learnt a lot about Czech history ,culture and literature that it made me go home and inquire further about what I had been told today.
